Remember how desmond got to the island?

widmore sent him on a round the world trip. is it possible that widmore knew desmond would end up on the island? and that somehow this is how he discovered the island? through desmond? i say this because i realized that the real henry gales hot air ballon had a widmore logo on it, and it just made me think… just a thought, please comment

p.s i am not in any way suggesting that des is aware of this, i dont think he is a spy.

Widmore likely has been sending various craft to search for the island ever since he got his hands on the blackrocks’ manifest. Those he had searching, like Des, might not even have known they were doing so, but just sent on a certain course in the hopes they’d stumble into it.

belle, +1 Much more than just a thought, I agree completely. Good work piecing those two events together. I think Widmore’s mission for Des was two-fold, though. It served his purpose to get him away from his daughter and hoped he would end up finding the island.

Like ozzig said in her comment, it’s likely Widmore has been sending out various crafts to search for the island.

    Good work!!

I do agree but it has always seemed strange that the balloon had his logo on it. And now we have people on a boat shouting “Hey, everybody. Widmore sent us”… and Ben’s telling Locke “Widmore’s the baddie”. ..and he bought the Black Rock log in person… and where did Tom get pictures of the graves in Thailand and a receipt for the plane. Come to think of it, Widmore’s the worst master criminal the world’s ever seen. Mr Paik, now I can’t tie him in anywhere, because he gets other people to do all the dirty work. Hmmm. +1 tho
