Captain Gault, just like the original, is almost certainly utilising a subtle smuggling technique.

If you want an interesting background read try the following three Captain Gault short stories.

They open up some nice possibilities regarding Captain Gault’s role in Lost.
The third one in particular about the saccharin smuggling struck a chord. Could the freighter be bringing a new submarine to the island, suspended underneath, to replace the one that Locke blew up? Maybe that’s what Regina dived down to?
ummm…it really didnt appear to me that Regina was “diving”. i have only done it a few times myself…..but the usualy gear doesnt involve chains and you generally wear a mask. shrug
Do a search on Captain Gault. This has already been discussed.
kitterkatters64 your comment is hilarious.

I know Captain Gault has been discussed but the short stories do make interesting (and fun) reading, the link takes you to the stories themselves.
Kitter.. I agree, but it does seem strange to me that they cast Zoe Bell, a reasonably well known stunt woman to play the part. She’ll be seen again I’m sure. If Charlie can swim down 30 or 40 ft then I’m sure she could manage say 50 or 60 with the chains. You’r probably right to be dismissive tho. -1 to me.
Lateralus.. followed your link and there is not a single story there just someones theory. If you don’t want to read any of the stories then you don’t need to but don’t redirect everyone somewhere else so that they miss them too.
