Firtsly, sorry if this has been discussed before, i havent checked all the theories. I know lots of theories have been posted on whether it was the frienghter or bens people who shot karl and danielle, and i believe that it was the freighties, but i think that ben knew what was going to happen.
i believe that ben “sent them to die” just like he did with goodwin, because he knew that the freighter people were coming and so decided to send alex, karl and danielle in the same direction that he thought the freighter people would be. I know all (most) of the evidence points to the freighter people shooting danielle and karl (e.g silenced guns, chopper missing and mercenaries missing), but the way ben looked at karl and alex when they were together at the beginning of the episode is also worth considering. a problem with this theory is the fact that he wouldnt risk putting alex in harms way, but i think he will go to great lengths to eliminate danielle and karl from her life. and sending people to die is something that he has done in the past so it isnt hard to imagine that ben is cabable. Also, if i remember correctly, in eggtown, miles warned him that he had 3 days or a week, or something like that, so ben knew when the freighter people would arrive, and so would know the right time to send danielle and karl. so to reiterate, i think that ben sent danielle and karl to die at the hands of the freighties, that way, his hands are clean and he can still consider himself “one of the good guys”
Please comment and let me know what you think, and again, sorry if anyone has come up with this idea already.
I think the freighter people are the snipers, BUT it has occured to me that Ben could well have sent them, knowing they would be intercepted by his enemies. He made a point of warning Alex, putting the idea into her head that resulted in her identifying herself to the snipers. What I’m getting at is—regardless of whether or not Alex is pregnant, if Ben THINKS she might be, he’s going to want her off the island. And right now putting her into the hands of his enemies is the surest way to accomplish that.
good theory…i agree with it all except for one thing…not entirely sure that danielle is dead…+1 for putting the 3.2 million dollars in “x” amount of time to be when the freightees would be coming back to the island
