Micheal traveled in time when he saw Libby for the first time
When the first nurse that came into the room (Libby), we see no Christmas tree outside the door. The second time it is one there. Micheal had a car accident when he was supposed to look for his son (S01E14). I think the first time, when he sees Libby was a time-travel to the first car accident. She just mentions a “car accident”, not an attempt of suicidal. Then he moves back to present and sees the actual nurse. Another hint: Nurse Libby calls he by his last name, not “Micheal” like in the boat, and didn’t seem to know him. The second nurse says he had no id with him, that means to me that the first time was another accident (when he had an ID with him). Another thing: the man on the other bed seems to be in a coma (second nurse says “something tells me it was not him”). The second time Micheal sees him seems to have more assisted breath support than the first time (he is getting worse?). Maybe that man was Micheal’s constant (would make sense). Also: Libby says she brought extra-blankets because the night was cold. When he crashed his car, it was already night, and he was not wearing too much… i would say it was not cold enough for him to need the blankets.
Other ideas: Maybe the encounter with Micheal (and Micheal talking to her) was what made Libby end up in a mental institution with Hugo

hiya check this it has pics of the tree n without and also there are different machines good theory i think but i am a little confused now lol
This is a little too much speculation for me. In the first season, the car accident is completely different than his later suicide attempt. Although Libby did say she went to med school and maybe sort of had a residence as a nurse, I still doubt it…it just seemed to me that Michael was having a dream, as he wakes up shouting (like Walt does, according to Michael’s mom). It could still be a dream influenced by the island, though, as it would lead Michael to feel guilty and want to redeem himself.
I think that when Michael saw Libby after his suicide attempt he was dreaming. It’s obvious that he’s living with the guilt of having killed Ana Lucia and Libby, evenmoreso now that Walt knows what he did. Those deaths ‘haunt’ him, so to speak. So when Michael was in the hospital, his subconscious put his surroundings together with one of his thoughts (i.e. Libby), to form his dream.
In regards to the man in the bed next to Michael: the nurse said “something tells me it was not him,” to Michael because she only came into the room after hearing some noise (I think), and it couldn’tve been someone that was in a coma, could it?
Just because a couple of characters have been able to mentally “time travel”, I really don’t think that we should jump to the conclusion that everyone else can too. It just seems like the last few weeks there’s been alot of posts about seemingly every character “jumping” either forwards or backwards in their lives, and finding “constants” every which way. I sincerely do not believe this to be the case.
+1 for an attempt though
chirpey1987: both machines are the same. Both times (Libby and the Nurse) there are two machines. Both can be seen while the door is being opened. Micheal just didn’t see the same machine both times. You can see part of the machines in the screens of the door in the same post, and you could see both machines in the pictures if they where not cropped by the sides.
Bakunin: because Libby said he was involved in a car accident, is that I think that it was the accident in S01E14. Walt is also special… he may be through the same thing. Both left the island and were exposed just like Desmond.
TheDude311: Actually this is the first person I think time-traveled other than Desmond. I agree that Libby on the boat was haunting him for killing her, but the scene at the hospital looked very different. Why would there be no tree outside the door?, why would the man next to him have a different breath-mask? I mean, if it where Michale’s subconscious using his surrounding I think it would be “all the same” or “very little the same”. Not such differences which I believe were just showing that some time passed.
whynot,
This was good and interesting. I appreciate the effort.
I do have to agree with TheDude. Both monitors are definitely in both scenes. Yes, there are minor differences, but there are way too many similarities. You are telling me that accidents that were years apart had him in the SAME hospital room, next to the SAME dude in a coma, with the SAME exact monitoring machines. Libby was some kind of a dream, and dream details are not precise. Could there be a reason the tree is gone and Hanso has a different breathing device? Sure, but I don’t think it’s time travel.
Again, good thoughts though!
Whynot, I can see how one might think Michael’s vision may appear to be more than just a dream, and I think it’s possible that there may have been some “island” effects going on as well, but not anything to do with time travel, IMO. +1
whynot-,the couple I was referring to were Desmond and Minkowski (minor character, but “travelled” nonetheless)
I think Michael’s first “encounter” with Libby in the hospital is just a bad dream and his second on the freighter is an island like vision. Both are brought on by a guilty conscious and not time travel in my opinion.
