Is this another case of the healing powers of the Island?

OK, this has been bugging me for a while now.
Soon after Charlie gets his guitar back (in Season One, as I recall), he goes traipsing around the jungle in pouring rain lugging this thing around. He makes no attempt to shelter it from the water.
Although the guitar he has looks like an Ovation, which I believe as some sort of plastic or resin based back, the sound board is still wood (spruce) as well as the neck. These wood components would be quickly ruined by anything more wet than a very light wipe with a damp cloth.
Then there are the strings. I’m assuming he doesn’t use nylon strings, so the steel strings on that guitar would rapidly rust with the treatment he gives them.
Yet Charlie’s guitar always looks playable, not all warped to pieces, not all rusted out.
Is this another case of the healing powers of the Island?

the same thing happens in flashes before your eyes when desmond walks up to him while he is playing wonderwall. It starts to rain, and charlie packs up everything except the guitar and just stands there with it in the rain. hmm…
I’ll add that to my “improbable but works” list along with the Dharma VW van, Circa 1980 computer tech, decades old food and medicine, rusted out guns, and ancient dynamite.
Oh… and the 70 some people who survived the plane crash.
(I’m practicing posting pictures… Thanks WTF!)
Hey, Shammie, you’ve got it!! Congrats :)
Oh and Veefre, I’m with Shamshot on this one.
