In a future episode Regina will be seen escaping underwater.

— JacksEyes

Regina sounded okay over the radio during Daniel’s experiment. Sowhy did she wrap herself in chains then jump off the boat ?

Because of the connection between her and Naomi? It says on Naomi’s bracelet “N, I’ll always be with you. R.G.” Well now she is again. But why the chains? So that Miles cannot “read” her body ?.

No. Two things rankle. Nobody on the team was in the least bit concerned over Naomi’s loss. Miles made the right noises but once they knew that they weren’t talking to her murdrerers everyone seemed quite relaxed about it (except maybe for Sayid). Her body was just “meat”, they didn’t close her eyes etc etc. She’s still in this somehow. And then they employ a specialist stunt actress (Zoe Bell) to read a book upside down then jump of a boat in chains. That’s it, goodbye. No way! In a future episode she will be seen escaping underwater (as well the Captain knows), she’ll swim to the helicopter (where’s that gone) or the submarine (?) below and on to the island, and Naomi.

It does seem odd to get a “name” actress (well, she was in Deathproof, but her stunts were better than her acting!) like Zoe Bell and have her die so quickly.

I’m not sure about your reasoning. I think the manner by how Gault and the rest were so ambivalent suggested there had just been a lot of deaths. The bloodstained wall displayed there had been one other, but how many others had there been? Maybe the rest of the crew have just quickly realised crazy people killing themselves is common now. Perhaps they freaked out at first, the way Sayid and Des did, but after a couple more people did it do you think Sayid and Des’ reactions would be just as extreme? I doubt it. They’d quickly get used to it, too, and probably just be thankful it wasn’t happening to them.

(Again, maybe that’s why people stayed away. If they think the people are ‘sick’ (probably a reason for the food situation perhaps considered contaminated) they don’t want to go near them in case they catch the illness too!)

Yeah, I think Regina will be back too just because of the fact that Zoe Bell plays her. Its not that Zoe Bell is a big name actress or anything, but after having a major part in Death Proof, I doubt she would sign on to Lost for just 45 seconds of air time.

Plus, since Zoe Bell is a stuntwoman first, actor second, I doubt her only stunt would be jumping into the water….oooohhh, how dangerous!

I saw Deathproof and I recognized the acress when I saw her in Lost, but WHO THE HELL IS ZOE BELL? She is NOT a name actress, and a tiny cameo on one of the most popular tv shows in America would be a huge boost to her career. (I will concede she may appear in a flashback or 2)

Another reason she is dead is because of the book she was reading, which was about people going crazy stuck on an achored ship.

The chains around her body was a tribute to the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. The island is the albatross chained around the neck of the freighter crew. (Please see previous posts or wikipedia to look up the details of the literary references)

I went away, and then something occurred to me. Regina very well may be back, for some of the reasons you state Vega, and still may also be dead!

Lost, as we know, loves a flashback! And they’ve got Michael’s story to tell yet, in which Regina may feature heavily.

I too think we will see more of regina - at least in a flashback! The chains also could’ve served a more practical reason - weighing her down so she would sink and not float back up to the surface of the water.

Maybe she was needed to do some work on the propeller.

Maybe there’s another underwater station, ala Looking Glass, directly under the freighter, and she’s safe down there?

Just wondering mind you. No harshing please.

Anybody notice that the Lost series seems to have a thing about bringing in strong, athletic, macho women of dark complexion, who all windup dead one way or another?

Ana Lucia - shot by Michael

    Naomi - stabbed by Locke

    Regina - Jumped overboard

    ?

Could the knocking on the pipes have something to do with the submarine beneath the ship and somebody on board indicating its presence?

Veefre. I would not describe Naomi as athletic. I would say physically she was a lightweight. Unless she has some secret ninja skills she would probably be last on my list of people to lead a commando raid on the island. She was chosen for another reason.
