We know who the 6 are…Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Aaron, and Sun. (Not to get into “when life begins” debate here, but Aaron HAS to be considered a survivor.)

So, who are #7 and #8 that Jack mentions in S4E4? And why make that part of the lie? Seems like there is no reason unless their momentary survival somehow helps explain the Oceanic 6. Therefore…

I think Claire has to be one of them…how else would they explain Aaron, unless Claire somehow survived the initial crash to give birth. That is, unless Kate claims that Aaron is her biological child. Remember, she was in Australia for a while, so it’s possible she could fool even family and friends.

And the other has to be Jin. How else could Sun have gotten pregnant on the island, unless her husband survived the initial crash as well. That is, unless Sun claims they got pregnant before the crash (which seems impossible, because any good doctor could identify the date of conception), or if Jin isn’t actually the father. Could Juliet have lied for some reason? Could the other dude have actually been the father? (FYI…I believe that tombstone we saw was put up long before Sun was rescued. Her name was on it too, so it’s likely someone else inscribed 9/22/04 as the day they died, and no one ever corrected it if Jin lived, let’s say, another 24 days on the island.)

Not sure any of this will even matter in the long run, because from the way Jack described #7 and #8, I don’t think they were even part of the rescue. It sounds like they “died” long before the 6 were brought home. It just seems these two would be the only two that would have “needed” to survive the initial crash to help explain Aaron and Sun’s pregnancy.

What ?, We clearly know who survived the crash, jesus so many people pretending to be smart making things more complex. The truth and the secret that the six are keeping is that there are still people left on the island (surely thats a gimme), some have chosen to stay, others may have not (Jin). Visiting the grave is clearly an act to ensure the people who are watching are convinced that Jin is dead and that no one else is on the island.

I think the poeple that were chosen to leave the island (Jack,Kate,Hurley) assured the rest of the survivors that they would get rescue. Unfortunatley and for a reason we do not yet know this didn’t/couldn’t happen.

Many mysteries this just aint one of them !!!!!!

I agree with sleepz. Why do so many people believe what Jack testified, when we all know that many more people survived??? it was just a lie, and as i remember Kate thanked him for it when they met in the parking lot. Maybe the oceanic 6 are the only people who can leave the island, because of the strange power it has on people (e.g. Locke being able to walk, the woman who heals from cancer, Jin being fertile again…)

charlie has to be one of the 8 suriviors jack talks about because he was in contact with penny in the looking glass. (unless penny agrees to the big secret everyone has.)

sleepz and bambi are missing your point. Clearly you know that many more really survived beyond the 8 that Jack mentioned but since his lie to the public has to be plausible, I like your analysis that Claire and Jin must be 7 and 8 in his story. I agree that they make the most sense.

Yeah, guys…I’m not saying only eight people survived. Come on, give me a litle credit. I’m saying the Oceanic 6 had a story…the story involved eight people…we know who the Oceanic 6 are…I am saying the 7th and 8th person Jack referenced were Claire and Jin. I know they all survived. Geeze.

Yes, Penny talked to Charlie, but Penny could have been persuaded to go along with the cover-up. It’s hard to explain Claire and Jin dying in the crash when Claire have to give birth to Aaron and Jin had to get Sun pregnant.

Sleepz, why are you hating on this theory? I’m sorry but the only thing we know for sure in Lost is that nothing is for sure, so don’t act like your all pissed off that people are trying to make things complex. “Theory” doesn’t mean truth buddy. Its only a thought and this website is a place to write down your thoughts and brain storm about the possibilities.

Surely thats a gimmie” as I just said nothing is for sure in this show, and if you didn’t figure that out by now your an idiot.

you guys don’t get, he knows that what jack said is a lie and a cover up, he is simply pondering who the other two, that suposedly die somehow, are. My personal belief is jin and sawyer

    Ladies, Ladies - all the hostilities…haha! :P

I agree with pcg - wouldn’t Charlie have to be one of the 8? I know that it is possible that Penny has been peersuaded to go along with the story and keep her conversation with Charlie a secret, but I am not 100% convinced. Wouldnt it be easier to believe that Sun pretends she got pregnant before the crash? Even one day before the crash would do it. And yes, a doctor could determine the point of conception, but why would they even suspect? And yes, we know that Jin was sterile until the island, but surely it would be just as believable to think that Jin knocking Sun up was a “miracle” as it would be to think that Jin knocked her up because of some island’s mysterious powers.

I think #7 and #8 are Charlie and Claire. Obviously Claire - she has to be alive to have the baby. Of course, that is assuming that Kate is making the baby’s identity known (which I am not convinced of either. There is no way the state would allow a woman on trial for murder act as an adopted mother of a child). And Charlie must be the other based on the conversation he had with Penny.

I do believe that Charlie is dead (I know that seems obvious but there are still many out there who maintain that he is alive) and I think that Claire dies. I am not sure how or why but I believe she makes it to the point of rescue and then dies somehow before actually making it off the island. Maybe she dies while trying to board that helicopter Des talked about.

Either way, I think Charlie and Claire make the most sense and Sun is pretending to have been knocked up before the flight. Dunno why…
