Hurley is perfect (not fantastic) but perfect at the sports they’ve shown him playing!

— rjcalnan

How is it that a man as un-athletic as Hurley can be so good at sports related stuff.

Okay - I’m not saying that I’ve never met some massively overweight people that just happen to play ball very well, or any of that.

My thought process here is that Hurley is perfect (not fantastic) but perfect at the sports they’ve shown him playing!

Ping pong - crushed Sawyer. Baseketball in the asylum: Jack said to him, “You never miss.” Horseshores: crushed Sawyer again

The only one I can’t figure out is golf. He made the golf course, but he was horrible at that. Althought, that could have been a foreshadow of what the island did to him. He sucked all to heck, and now (and in the future) is incredible at it.

So have at it folks, what does it all add up to?

I say it adds up to one big laugh! :-) No offense to you though…I actually give you a +1 for your creativity.

likely because he was able to play those games during activity times at the hospital he was in (santa Rosa i think??) Golf would be something that mental patients probably would not get to play a lot :) Just my thoughts

i think that the basketball and horse shoes have to do with luck… ping pong cuz of mental institution plus we needed someone to show up sawyer

Hurley obviously has some link with the island , whether he was born there or whatever - there are just too many things that happen to Hurley that make him ‘special’ - e.g. when the knife was thrown at him and hit that plate thing, the Hurley bird, the combi van incident, seeing Jacobs hut and all the sporting stuff like you mention - a bit like Walt when playing backgammon - +1

What about Hurley now being lucky… Again. After he finaly lost his money (on the island) and the bad luck it seemed to follow him, these are all lucky shots! Hurley is one lucky guy! But funny post!

This is actually a really good post. Hurley has always referred to himself as having “bad luck”. But what was he really unlucky about besides what happened to him after the lottery?
