The only time we ever see Annie is when she gives young Ben the wooden doll for his birthday. He still had the wooden doll at the time of the purge(but i’m not sure they have shown it since). We never see Annie after the purge, so something must have happened to her before.
My idea is that Ben and Annie grew up together on the island, fell in love like childhood sweethearts, she got pregnant and died. Ben blamed DHARMA becuase they knew pregnant women died and did nothing to help(like maybe let her leave the island?) Or perhaps he was just told by the hostiles(Richard Alpert and the rest) that DHARMA was to blame. Ben gases all of DHARMA and becomes a leader of the others.
Except that Annie and Juliet don’t really look alike. Harper and Annie would be closer.

actually, i think Harper was reffering to ben’s mother. Juliet looks exactly like Emily Linus, ben’s mother…
I do agree that the picture of the little 8 yr old girl that played Annie, the one and only time we have seen her, doesn’t look like the 30 something Juliet. My idea is that we havn’t seen what Annie looks like grown up and so far that is the only ‘her’ we have seen Ben have any kind of human feelings for.
Crud… She does look more like Ben’s mom.
It seems to me that when Harper makes the reference ‘You look just like her’. That she is speaking about a woman, not a child.
Could it be that Annie did survive the purge?
Did Annie and Ben get pregnant?
Did Annie & the child die?
Is that why Ben is seemingly obsessed with solving the fertility problem on the Island?
If it is true that Annie survived into adulthood and had (recently. using the term loosely) died, I can see why none of the Others would speak about it openly. Ben would kill them.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see later on that Annie did get pregnant, but Ben made helped her leave the island so both of them would survive. We could see later that they are both doing fine, maybe Ben will visit them off the island some day.
I agree with the post. Most of the comments in response have been idiotic.
