Note: This is based on public preview available to anyone with a comptuer and an internet connection (basically everyone here) on abc.com so not technically a spoiler since anyone can see it. But if you prefer not to avail yourself of the resources on abc.com, then be warned.

In The Other Woman, we see Daniel and Charlotte heading to the Tempest station. The Tempest station controls the Island’s mysterious power source.

Juliette is approached by a woman from the past, and warned that she must stop Daniel and Charlotte from completing their mission. Meanwhile, Kate stumble upon Daniel and Charlotte as they make their way to the Tempest station. Kate see a gas mask in their pack and has a questioning attitdue about their story. As she bends down to take a closer look at the pack, Charlotte knocks her out with a whack with the handle of her gun.

Next we see Danile and Juliette at the Tempest station, dressed in biohazard suits, setting about to do something - it looks like they are going to open some valve(s), and the computer monitor warns them to evacuate the area first. Juliette comes up and tells them to stop whatever it is their doing, and points a gun at them to enforce her order. Charlotte snarls back that she’ll have to kill them both.

So it would seem fairly obvious, that whatever it is that they are set on doing probably involves an infectious agent (hence the need for gas masks and biohazard suits). It seems likely that this is the virus that Dr. Mittlewerk is trying to test on the Island, which virus is supposed to kill exactly 30% of the population (part of the scheme to postpoine the Valenzetti Doomsday).

A secondary possibility is that the valves and such have something to do with removing control over the Island’s power source, so that the geomagnetic pole shift can begin. Take your pick as to what is the freighter’s mission, or maybe they are trying to do both.
