Time goes faster on the Island than it does in the outside World !
— katesawjack
The island time is two days faster than it is away from it !
This is something that I discovered while searching for an event date. It begins day 94 Christmas Eve 12/24/2004 The timelines for events are shown as different between island and freighter. It seems apparent now that time does occur faster on the island than away from it ! When Jack said that they had been gone two days was correct for island time. This heading is from “Lostpedia”. Day 96 - Sunday, December 26, 2004 (on the Island)/Friday, December 24th, 2004 (off the Island)
“The Constant”
Friday, December 24th, 2004 (off the Island) - Sayid contacts Jack on the Island, using Frank’s satellite phone. - After Sayid repairs the freighter’s communications equipment, Desmond makes contact with Penelope.
Day 96 - Sunday, December 26, 2004 (on the Island) - Daniel finds an entry in his journal stating “If anything goes wrong, Desmond Hume will be my constant”.
Time goes faster on the Island than it does in the outside World !

I’m glad there is someone around to help with the math…I hate numbers! Well- with the exception of our LOST numbers.
Thanks ksj! :-)
+1, ksj! I saw that on lostpedia too, but was sooo confused by it, I always thought time moved slower on the island and also thought Dan’s experiment and the time it took for the helicopter to get to the Freightor proved this. Man, this is a confusing show. lol
Thank god- I don’t feel so bad knowing I wasn’t the only one who got confused Annie- lol
No, lockeFan, you’re not alone!! lol
Yes, you are right please screw the numbnut Nat who is totally wrong when he says the time on the Island is in the past!!!
Thanks for the comments and votes , locke and annie. Believe me I am just as confused as anyone! lol This has not got a thing to do with that though.
I just read a good article on Entertainment Weekly - A Map for ‘Lost’ by Jeff Jensen. It could contain some posssible spoilers so be fore-warned. Travel at your own risk! :)They do mention something about Jacob. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,200367822003740320038202,00.html
I was curious about the number of days on the island as well compared to the days on the calendar.
You think someone on the island would have remembered it was Christmas!!!! All the watches on the island couldn’t have broken just yet!
Gee, thanks GeneralDDT. It looks like I was indeed wrong, but clearly you left your humility at the door.
Besides- I wasn’t the ONLY person who thought the island was in the past, so cut me some slack!
Just want to add that people will disprove your theory because of the phone calls off and on the island, but keep in mind those are some really high gadget huge phones that maybe can devert time
Doesn’t really track. We know how many days the Losties have been on the island (Lostpedia keeps track), and that jibes with the calendar that Desmond sees on the ship.
Kind of hard to see how all these time anomalies can all be true.
