Ok, follow me here.
Why was the wreckage of Oceanic 815 found in the Indian Ocean?
In the Pilot Episode, the “pilot” said they had been flying for six hours when things went bad and they turned back for Fiji. This clearly puts 815 somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. And yet, whether it was “staged” or whatever, the wreckage was found (as we are told in the news broadcast in S4E2) off the coast of Bali, South of Indonesia. Even if that is where 815 did end up, wouldn’t the “cover-up” logically place the wreckage somewhere in the Pacific? It was clearly a direct flight from Sydney to L.A. Jack tells the counter woman that he needs to be in L.A. in 16 hours, and it takes about 14 hours for a non-stop flight. There wouldn’t be any time for a lay-over.
Now, for the really interesting part (maybe). If you watch S1E5 and S1E6, Jack is in the airport in Sydney telling the counter woman he needs to get to L.A. E5 is from his perspective and E6 is from Sun’s perspective. In both episodes, you hear a final boarding call for Oceanic Flight 125 to Singapore (and it is loud enough to easily hear, unlike a lot of the background noises in these scenes). If you look at a map, that flight would fly directly over Bali.
Could the “wreckage” of 815 actually have been Oceanic 125?
The helicopter pilot (name is slipping my mind) was right. The pilot of 815 was wearing a wedding ring (you can see it for a split second in the Pilot episode). And the pilot in the wreckage is not.
Now, I have no idea what this means or why it matters, but the focus on the Indian Ocean got me thinking…on the show, it is currently December 24th, 2004. Anyone remember what happened on December 26th, 2004 in the Indian Ocean? The Tsunami. Not sure if the writers would bring such a huge tragedy into a television show, but just thought it was worth pointing out.

Very Interesting, although I would think that flights to Singapore or infact any asian countries would be announced quite often due to the close proximity that Australia would be to Asia. From what we can surmise, its that there is something wrong behind the flight itself. If it was flight 125, then why would the TV announce that it was Flight 815, and why would they be heading for Singapor if it was clearly an Australia-L.A. flight……Bob’s Your Uncle Mate
I do like the Tsunami idea, and that maybe the “system failure” that Desmond caused might have led to the tsunami occuring.
you gota remember that ocianic 815 was flying of course tho because it had ran out of fule and the ther radio stoped working. So nobody apart the losties new where they wer when they crashed
I thought in the last eppie (Constant) someone said (the pilot or Faraday?) that they were near or close to the last port of Figi? Anyone else catch that?
