I’m really tired so this may read badly

— sleepz

I am thinking that Widmore was just a previous Ben, Jacob takes people uses them to carry out his bidding and once they have served him manipulates events so circumstance ensures they must leave the island.

I think we will see a Widmore flash back of when he was in control of the island concluded with him being forced to leave allowing Ben to take his position, which as we have seen happened again with Ben and Locke

Some evidence of where Widmore’s riches comes from could be seeing Ben book himself into a top hotel immidiatley after leaving the island so money can’t be an issue for him which leads me to believe that Widmore on departure was given riches to live out the rest of his life and sent back to civilisation to end his days as a successful buisness man.

Widmore had several people that were also forced off the island with him :-

The Ring Lady (Demosnds Flash Forward)
                    The Priest (Desmonds Flash Back)
                     The Doctor (Christain Sheppard)
                     The Psychic (Claires Flashback)
Mr Paik i think his name is (Suns Dad)

Who were each sent back to live out thier days.

Widmore also could have hired Claires ex boyfriend to paint for him based on photo’s/ his memories of the island (hence the pictures in the flat and office

So far we have seen:- Ben back on the mainland still fighting for the island Locke back on the mainland dead So the time that Locke was on the island in charge must have been pretty brief.

Widmore wanting is island back is also prompting me to believe that whatever reality they are living in now is fake, and as Hurley said “just to damn perfect”

Also is Penny really Widmores Daughter or is it a similar situation to the relationship between Ben and his Daughter ?

Also I dont ever think that Widmore believed that Des was not good enough for his Daughter, I think Desmond was set up from the start to get lost on the island what better way to get the location of the island then to ensure the person/people (815ers) wanted to be found.

Sorry if this reads badly. I will revise when I have had more sleep.

I agree with this on a lot of levels. I’ve thought for a while now a Widmore flashback ep was pending. Interesting thought about the paintings. +1

I agree there’s a strong chance that Widmore was once on the Island - though I worry about it happening in Ben’s lifetime. (Which presents problems, I know.)

Thing is, Ben arrived on the Island as a boy - but if Widmore was in charge then you have to wonder: How old was he?

See, if Widmore turned the wheel and was shoved off the Island then that means the Island had to have moved… Maybe it did. Maybe the scene we saw of Ben arriving at the Island as a boy where at a point when the Island was in a different location than the one it is in now. Maybe. . .

I quite like this its certainly a unique take on Widmore and the island. Following your trail of thought it appears that only Christian has made it back to the island in whatever form! And at the end of season 4 we see Locke in a coffin after a alleged suicide. Also Miles implies that Charlotte has been to the island before yet he is a medium who talks to dead people. Not sure where im going with this but i think iff Locke was off the island he would give his life to return on blind faith alone. Perhaps you can only return to the island after death?

Very good. Lots of fresh ideas. +1.

Here is a totally random, off-the-wall, not-very-well-thought-out idea. Maybe Penny is Annie. If what you are saying is true, then Widmore must have moved the island. Maybe he took Annie, his daughter, with him when he moved the island.

sleepz I really like the direction you took for Widmore, very unique. I don’t know how it will play out. I think we will definitely see a Widmore flashback early on in S5. I have discussed the “Widmore idea with a few other folks and have come to the idea also that He could have been the Captain or the First mate of the Black Rock. I dunno more food for thought. as always I dig it.
