- Flag this theory:
Ive been rewatching the second season the past week or so and something came to my attention.
When Desmond runs into Libby in the airport and she gives him her husbands boat she mentions that her husband was named David. I think that this scene took place well before she was in Santa Rosa (according to Lostpedia anyway) but I wonder if it was anything to do with it, seeing as how Hurley’s imaginary friend there was named Dave.
Again not so much a theory just interested in what anyone else thinks about this, considering what little we know of Libby’s backstory

sometimes I think the writers are just messing with us!
prepare to be destroyed!

I think you’ve solved LOST.
well, i think its simply a case of the ‘everythings connected’ theme. hurley has a multiple personality named dave. libby makes up a story about a husband named david. hurley and libby become close on the island.
I also wondered about that too, but then I thought ” Why even try to figure things out on this show anymore!!!”
Good question though!
I think that David was one of the people that Hurley accidentally killed in the deck collapse incident, and that Hurley has imagined him in his mind and kept him as an imaginary friend because he feels guilty about killing him. Isn’t that what they’re trying to tell Hurley, that David just wants to hurt him? To keep him fat? It would explain a lot…
I agree with NatiJean.
I believe she was never really married. Widmore hired her to give Desmond the boat. He knew Desmond would end up on the island. How? Because he’s rich!
