Once the fail safe key is turned, and you have the big “pink sky”, we begin a new time frame for the island…that time frame LOOPS until it ends with Ben moving the island.

Intro

Premise of my theory is based on many other theories (on this site and abroad) and include the following assumptions:

  1. The island was built by a group of people or person in the future -The construction includes the time machine and all of the ‘special’ properties of the island. (this explains how the island exists and how it has special powers)

  2. The island was built as an experiment to test human activity to study human evolution (not the physical evolution, the social, spiritual, and mind evolution) and comes to an end when the islands time catches up to the present time of the “GROUP” that built the island. (this is the game…and figuring out the rules is a big part of it)

  3. An equation exists/was built into the island/experiment to ensure time on the island moves forward. For time to move forward on the island, certain events have to occur for time to progress. How big or small this is we don’t know. (whether valenzetti or any other equation, without specific results on the island, time gets messed up on the island

  4. The Members of the ruling class from the future intervene and help, but never control actions on the island (i think malkin, isaac of uluuru, alpert, hawking, and JACOB are the 6 people from the future conducting the experiment)

  5. Because Time Travel and radiation play a big part the evolution of time travel has hit many bumps and roads as it progresses towards the end of the experiment. Humans can create as much “devolution” as evolution….

  6. Travel to far in the future off the island you find yourself with the impossible (almost) task of getting back.

OK, so that’s what I think LOST is all about…at a very high level anyways….with that in mind, I think the end of Season 4 tought me this about how the show is shaping up:

We are faced again with another timeloop.

Getting JACK to the island to save Ben took many tries. This is why you have Locke saying “supposed to” and other sayings we heard the losties saying. (again, I could go on forever with examples)

This time loop of events ends when Desmond turns the fail safe key. At this point you have a new set of events and time loops created. The fail safe key does a couple things…destroys the hatch / opens the islands location up to the outside world / and marks the end of Ben’s leadership of the island. Desmond not turning the fale safe key all the way gets the losties to the island, him turning the fail safe key sets in motion the next set of events that need to take place.

Widmore ultimately sends / manipulates Desmond to get to the island because he knows, the end event will be him turning the fail safe key…this then allows him to locate the island…even if for a brief time.

Once the fail safe key is turned, and you have the big “pink sky”, we begin a new time frame for the island…that time frame LOOPS until it ends with Ben moving the island.

So, for all the people that think Jack is going to be able to crash on the island and wake up with the black baton next to him like in the pilot episode are wrong. I think we are a couple time loops ahead of that now. However, jacks’ purpose isn’t done and he needs to get to the island.

Ben had stated THE Person who moves the island cannot come back. i think that is because getting back requires a very unique equation set up by the future people running the island. However it can be done. I don’t think he knew this when he moved the island, but I think he knows that at Benthams funeral. The equation to get back to the island, includes everyone going back together. However, it will take a “pink like sky” event to end the loop that exists between the MOVE and JACK getting the gang back to the island.

Now, we wait until next year to find out what is happening on the island, but couple an “island event” with Jack and Ben working to get everyone on board (a plane or boat)….

The biggest hole in my theory is the fact we don’t (as viewers) exactly see the changing or “retrying” of events. And we probably won’t. What we see is actual events that occur to move time forward. I also don’t quite know what to make of the widmore and BEN war. I do wonder though if they are the JOHN and JACK of a previous time loop…however, there FATE isn’t done because they are not dead…..since they know they have a purpose, they have to beleive it is on the island…but again, this is a big hole in my theory…the last is the fact that jack picked up the black and white rocks from Adam and Eve, there is purpose there, I just don’t know what it is….

Anyways, besides all my jumbled writing…what i”m trying to say is time progresses weird on the island because certain equations have to be met to make it go forward, and unfortunately, humans that come into interaction with the island are the pawns of the game. Ultimately though, to finish the GAME, humans have to ‘evolve’ enough to make the time on the island go forward.

I like alot of what you are saying …but I truly beleive Jack will be put back on the crash day…it fits in with the baton ect ect I think through the seaons we get to see what he changed and we get to see what went wronge ….maybe with the numbers like ep 4 its a time Jack changed things then skip to ep 5 its a different time line…not completley sure, but if you watch the adam and eve finding….its like John and Jack already know somthing….the way Jack takes the stones, and notice Jack has a bandaid on his head in future???so we cant see that he doesnt have the scar….when you watch the pilot…Jack has been there already…he goes almost sraight to his sister,he assumes hurley knows his name..ect also Jack says once my dad just tought me how to drink…Jack wasnt an alcholeholic before the real crash but was after…so in the pilot we see him shaking with the bottle cos he wanted to drink it but knew he had to go and save people…I think in the real crash Rose dies and Jack remembers this and saves her I could go on and on.
