Speaking from the past….
So, the latest Comic Con video/dharma video may have given light to a whole Summer/Fall/Early winter of theories! YAY! Work can now go buy much faster.
OK, so just to recap, we have a guy who we’ve seen in all of the Station videos by the various candles name, now known as Cheng, show that someone (presumably Faraday) has travelled back and opened up a portal to the real time (and by that I mean real lost time), that shows this time travel thing is real. So, i think through that, we may now be able to explain the sightings of dead people and Jacob on the island.
OK, so here’s my theory:
We know that, according to that new video, there is only a short time (or limited at best) to communicate back to the future, then they have to go. Cheng wanted to keep it open longer, but the other guy turned it off. IF you take that process and apply it to someone who is dead, but can use to communicate forward to the future, you may have your explanation of Dead people on the island (and Jacob and maybe Vincent). Here’s how:
If in the past, it is shown to people who are on or going to be on, etc…that this is what is happening, and you have MOMENT to help, or lead them, then here it is….now do it.
This would work if it is known you can’t change the random event. IE desmond not turning the key and the plan crashing. Christian wouldn’t be able to stop that, but on the island, he can lead, help, etc…..
This would explain whispers, etc…. This also does not explain Claire, but I think there is going to be something with this opening to the future, and how dead can still communicate…ie charlie with Hurley, etc….
Also, this could be how Jacob communicates….from the past and to the future……
I haven’t fully seen or understand the video you talk about. I can’t quite follow your post either.
Marvin Candle (who says his real name is Cheng) is in this youtube video from Comic-Con 2008. It isn’t at the immediate beginning so let it run a bit.

In it Pierre Cheng asks a woman called Jennifer to take a little baby boy outside because the child is crying. He then says, sort of to himself, “What are the odds of that?”
Would someone fill me in on any “Jennifers”??

Okay……………found out where I had seen Jennifer. Here’s a blurb from Lostpedia.
