This is not a theory but something which I noticed which probably means nothing! And may have already been discusssed so I apoloize!
But in season 1 episode ‘white rabbit’ in the scene where Kate and Sayid think Sawyer has taken the water, Kate wrestles Sawyer to the ground to which he says ‘I made this birthday wish 4 years ago.’
I’m I just reading too much into this?

I’ve just seen that episode and it indeed sounded a bit strange. Who would’ve thought that they knew each other four years ago eh?
I think maybe he had wished to be pinned to the ground with a hot chick on top of him. I also made this birthday wish four years ago.

Hmm, interesting. It may have been some sort of easter egg from the producers that we were supposed to brush off as a sexist comment from Sawyer, I mean, I made that birthday wish every year ago!
Who knows, maybe Sawyer has been to the island before…
I’ve always connected that comment to Kate to this one Sawyer made to Walt in “All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues.”
Sawyer: So a tribe of evil natives planted a ringer in the camp to kidnap a pregnant girl and a reject from VH-1 has-beens. Yeah, fiendishly clever. And why am I getting the evening news from a “6 year old”?

Again with 4 years. Could they be stuck in a 4 year loop? What do you think the chances are that the Oceanic 6 get back to the island in 2008? Seems to be pretty good odds to me.

I havent gone back to re-watch the episode.. but, do you know what Kate’s reaction to the comment was? That might give a clue as to whether is was just a pervy comment or something more.
Kate didn’t say anything. She was busy tackling Sawyer down to the ground.
interesting question. When I first started watching lost I always thought that Sawyer and Kate knew eachother from before.. then I found out that they didn’t.. but I defentily belive its a possibility

Thanks for comments! Some funny ones too! Just thinking that some (jack, john) seem to have been to the island before so when I heard that line I got excited! Lol! i definately think jack and kate seem to know each other. Maybe what we are seeing is the second time they have come to the island but maybe the first time kate was the leader (wasn’t she meant to be the original hero of the series?) and knew she had to bring jack back… Totally throwing this idea out there!
