Jack says “no he didn’t”
in the season 4 finale, this conversation wen’t down hurley: i can’t believe he did it.
KATE: Who did what?
hurley: Locke. He moved the island.
JACK: No, he didn’t.
Then, Hurley asks him to explain, but Lapidus notices the boat, then the rest unfolds.
So, I think there are two possibilities here….1. Jack knows that the island wasn’t moved or 2. Jack knows that Ben moved the island.
My theory is that Jack knows Ben moved the island. I think it would be too much at this point that Jack would know about the time traveling of the island. Of course the third possibility is Jack knows exactly what happened and it’s none of the two previously mentioned items.
I’m just wondering what people thought of when Jack said “no he didn’t” ….

I just saw it as Jack is struggling with his man of faith versus man of science struggle, and couln’t admit that the island actually moved.
im with sawyers girl on this.
i dont know why people seem to think jack knows whats going on or that he has been ‘here’ before, ect. i mean, it’s a possibility. but to me, it seems like he’s completely in the dark and confused at all stages throughout the series. although, of course he pretends to know everything to comfort and guide the losties,
holler
I think this is why Jack decided they had to lie. He sees that Locke was right all along, he knows he f’d up so now he has to protect the island and everyone on it.
I agree with sawyersgirl as well. He just couldn’t accept the truth. He didn’t KNOW that Ben moved the island.
I too am with sawyer’s girl on this one.
I agree with all the coments, I think Jack refuses to accept the obvious. I think Jack is like a person watching a magician saw a woman in half. All the visual evidence is shown that would suggest that it happened. Yet the audience knows that “No, he didn’t”. It is some trick and that some other explanation is needed, although the viewer does not know what the explanation is.
Jack, like most rational people, can not believe that anyone can move an island, so although the island vanishes from view, Jack needs to believe that there is some other explanation, that somehow they are being tricked.
Sometimes it is better in life to believe that the magician did saw the lady in half!
