My theory is that the episode is a plant or a diversion to somehow make the viewers Believe that Ben is not in complete control.

We were given an entire episode which shows a jealous, even crazy Ben Linus in his pursuit of Juliet. With a set number of episodes remaining, it must have a purpose from the viewpoint of the writers.
Many will probably incorrectly believe it just shows Benjamin as crazy and impulsive. My theory is that the episode is a plant or a diversion to somehow make the viewers Believe that Ben is not in complete control. He is in fact in control and still doing what is best for the bigger picture. Only time will tell if Ben is one of the “Good Guys”. But I believe “The Other Woman” was made for the purpose of throwing us off track. The same can be said for Ben killing Keamy, thereby blowing up the freighter. It’s all for the greater good.

I think its showing us part of the reason why Jacob wanted him out, he lets his personal obsessions interfere with his work on the island. And the freighter I think he no longer cared about it as the ‘good people’ from the freighter were now on the island (Faraday and co.).
That’s definately the competing theory, KJ. I just sort of hope and root for Ben. We’ll see.
I still think Ben has a plan to reclaim the island though and he has prepared for the day he was forced off the island, he is in control its just that Juliet and the pregnancy thing is the chink in his armor.
that was my favourite episode this season. i loves me ben.
who really needs an excuse to put michael emerson centre stage for an episode? i reckon the writers just can’t get enough of him, much like myself, & will use any excuse to stare at him for an hour.
but honestly i think it was to show that ben is a sucker for the ladies. the women in his life tend to bring out the nutcase deep inside. so when goodwin makes a move on his woman, BAM, off to ana lucia for playtime. when keamy kills alex, BAM, get smokie in to show ‘em what’s what. he can’t control his emotions when it comes to chicks. that was the setup for pretty much everything he does for the rest of the season.
plus… “YOU’RE MINE!”… shivers in a nice way
I just think Ben, aside from any personal stuff, is doing what is for the greater good. He is a good guy.
awful. -1
eww this is just another pointless theory with nothing important
