juliet: Well, that’s a human womb, obviously. Judging from the decomposition of the endometrium I would say that the woman was somewhere in her seventies. alpert: Well, actually, she’s 26.

I think there was an important clue in the not in portland Episode concerning the pregnancy issue on the island.

Let me re quote real quick the situation that brings light to the clue:

[this is when juliet meets Dr. alpert for the interview at mittleos science for the first time}

alpert: Mind if I ask you something? juliet: Sure.

[At this point they show pictures of an ultrasound on the board]

ALPERT [changing slides]: What do you see? juliet: Well, that’s a human womb, obviously. Judging from the decomposition of the endometrium I would say that the woman was somewhere in her seventies. alpert: Well, actually, she’s 26. juliet: What happened to her?

Now, based on research in good ole’ wikipedia, as women age, the endometrium decomposes because of the lack of menstral cycles. Without getting to scientific (and pretending to know what I’m talking about…i’m seriously just quoting things from wiki) I think we can see here, for whatever reasons, on the island, the body (women in particular considering pregnancy kills the female, not the male) must think it is much older then it actually is, or, in fact internally, because what is gone through by going to the island, the body ORGANS are in fact older, though the appearance doesn’t change.

Either way, I think we found the issue of why pregnancy has such problems on the island. The aging process that occurs in real time vs. island time, etc… If the body thinks it’s older, it of course would not be able to properly carry to term of pregnancies.

Just a thought…..

    I definitely think this “pregnancy issue” has to do with the time problems on the island. The time distortions (and maybe fluctuations) I think this all roots back to electromagnetism. I don’t really understand the physics or quantum mechanics, but I do think that it roots from electromagnetism.

    Yeah, I think it relates to the time issue.

    I agree that the pregnancy issues are related to the time discrepancies, but why would that kill the mother? Wouldn’t she just fail to conceive?
