Has anyone been following the theories about Lost and the Dark Tower(the island is the center of time and space, the coordiates to/from the island are the beams, etc.)?

I think that course correction also fits into the Dark Tower theory. The people who get off the island have to go back to the island to fix whatever didn’t turn out right. Here’s my question for you all— is Jack the one who needs to course correct or is Ben?

I haven’t read the Dark Tower, but my understanding is that it begins and ends with the protagonist in a desert. The protganonist has to get to the dark tower, he turns the key to the dark tower, and then he’s back in the desert and has to start all over again.

So it’s interesting that Ben turns the key, and Ben ends up the desert. Is Ben trying to get back to the island so that he can do something differently and change the course of destiny?

Or is it Jack— who in the pilot wakes up in the jungle, by himself, far from the plane. Did Jack crash, or did he end up back on the island because there’s something he needs to do differently to change the course of destiny?

Will either Ben or Jack be able to change the course of destiny, or does course correction win?

I would love to hear any thoughts you have along these lines…

ive thought for a long while since after the end of season 3 and then watching series 1 again on dvd that Jack is the lead in the show and it is about him aultimetly going back in time to the crash…..him laying far away from crash is the biggest clue but then when you a=watch serises 1 agian and you watch Jack get the black and white stones from Adam and Eve…you just go omg!!! it’s so obvious, and there are other things to that happen that brings the same conclustion…but im still baffeled about the whole time line, also another thing I noticed the first people JaCK sees after the crash are the people who died on the island..no joke he sees Boone Shannon Cleare john jin Micheal,he then sees Hurley and Jack thinks that Hurley knows his name…it’s all there…but then agian it still doesnt exsplain alot of things so its only part of it and I would be shocked if Jack is not time tavelling…ill love whatever Lost is.. a video game…A dream …whatever I just NEED it to be OVER///// QUOTE

I am 80% sure that this is jack’s second time on the island too. I have also been watching season one over again and Jack asks charlie if he trusts Locke and charlie says ” if anyone can save us it’s locke”, Jack looks at him disappointely. I found this interesting, that Jack is trying to do things right the second time, but with no avail against destiny. Also John Locke seems to know everything about the island, I think this is also his second time to it.

What if the catch is that Jack doesn’t remember being on the island— he’s repeating himself without knowing it. Yes, it seems like he already knows Kate, etc. They have more of a connection than they do with other people on the island. But their connection might be subconscious. They come back to the island and end up repeating everything they did before… still trying to change destiny and/or get it right this time. But they don’t realize that they’re stuck in a loop.

What if the very last episode ends where the pilot began, and we’re stuck in the loop with them!

I highly doubt this is Jack’s 2nd time on the island. Everyone is jumping on this bandwagon, but I am not. Is it a creative idea? Yes. Would it be an unbelievable twist? Definitely. Is there a lot of evidence that this is what is happening? Not really.

Just because he woke up in the middle of the jungle doesn’t mean he time traveled or anything. Lots of people ended up in wierd places after the crash. Look at Bernard. He woke up in a tree still in his seat. Nobody is suggesting he time traveled.

And I don’t think he already knows Kate. They seemed like complete strangers to me when they met.

And we see Jack on the plane just before it goes down. He arrived at the island because of the plane crash, not because he time traveled there. And we see almost his whole life leading up to the crash via flashbacks. When in his life did was he at the island “the first time” as everyone thinks this is his second time?

Just too many holes for it to happen. +1 for you ladypres on a well-written post.

I love Dark Tower. I love Lost. Please don’t make Lost into Dark Tower. Peace.

I’m going to have read this Dark Tower series then I’ll know what everyone is talking about!

But on the subject of Jacks 2nd time around I have to agree with Iroc, I’m not discounting the whole possibility of a ‘time-loop’ but as for Jack arriving on the island for the 2nd time in the pilot, I just can’t buy into it for a number of reason’s, but chief amongst them is that it would be the biggest cop-out ever.

My apologies, lost4815162342 . It seems like the writers take their inspriation from so many great souces…. Clearly Lost isn’t going to take the same path as any one published work. But I do think that there are connections to Dark Tower that may give us some clues…

I go back and forth on whether Ben or Jack or both of them are stuck in a destiny loop. Today I’m thinking that Ben is stuck in a loop, but he seems to be aware of it. He turns the dharma wheel and wakes up in the desert (Dark Tower clue). He seems to have a greater understanding of the island and the situation than everyone else. It maeks me wonder— Is Ben trying to manipulate people so that he can manipulate destiny?
