Welcome fellow theorists, i have decided to create this post as a way for us to summarize what useful bits of information have been given to us so far by the producers of LOST as insight into the meaning of various plot and story elements. This show is full of mysteries, so lets eliminate them one at a time!
People who have definitely returned to civilization: Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, Ben, Aaron. Jack, Kate, Hugo and Sayid have all received settlements to keep quiet about unknown events. As indicated by Jack in Through the Looking Glass, and the guy who recruited Naomi, some people were left behind.
People who have left the Island(?): Walt, Michael, Lapidus, Desmond
There is some sort of time displacement on the island. As indicated by Dan’s experiment and speculated by fans for some time.
The Casimir effect. (see wikipedia) Its has been brought up at least once on the dharma Orchid video.
Electromagnetism is important. Electromagnetism is fundamental in the study of physics and plays a huge role in the show. Dan Faraday is a reference to Michael Faraday, a physicist who studied magnetism.
There are Installations we are not yet aware of (the Temple, the Orchid)
some obvious things that maybe we forgot about: strange voices, apparitions, Jacob transports the cabin and himself, walt, purple sky, penny widmore’s team. more to come…
Ok, but Ben is not the 6th, the 6th is someone who died, when Jack went to his funeral. Ben was never on the Oceanic flight remember! Ben doesn’t count.
I never said Ben was one of the 6, i just said he got off the Island. The producers have hinted at the fact that Ben may in fact be one of the 6. Maybe he assumed one of their identities, he does have access to numerous passports and can probably forge anything he wants.
