Mindlessly scanning through these posts like oh-so-many of us do… i was struck with something from the latest episode, the Shape of Things to Come. In the last 5 minutes of the show, Ben confronts Widmore about his daughter, Alex. He claims that Widmore killed his daughter etc. etc. Widmore returns with something like “But Ben, you’re not going to stand there and pretend that I killed my daughter.. You Did (meaning Ben killed his daughter).

Is it possible that Ben miscalculated or misinterpreted the rules of the island and the time traveling. I felt like Widmore is a pretty extreme guy… Ben, him, and everyone watching LOST knows that he isn’t just a nice, rich old man. The video that Ben shows Locke shows Widmore shoot a guy in cold blood in an alley in the real world. Therefore - hes a G.

with that said… i feel that if he honestly killed Ben’s daughter or purposefully changed the rules to do so… he wouldn’t lie about it or try to hide anything. He’s pretty straight forward in his motives. I would list possible answers to this piece of info, but i feel that it is easier for me to pose this situation, this question and you guys bounce ideas (good or bad - be honest plz) off this post.

Thank you.

I think what Widmore is implying is that if Ben had given himself up, then Widmores men would have spared Alex, but since Ben did not give himself up, he essentially contributed to the situation that killed Alex. I think……

Lol thats what i first thought Kinzicar.. and hell its probably the truth. But i think the most important thing with LOST is… whether your reaching into space, or just fishing for dynamite, its always best to explore EVERY situation with multiple angles, multiple viewpoints. Even tho most of the time, the most simple, logical answer is correct. You’ll find a breadcrumb every so often if you search enough.

What we dont see is often as important as what we do see. We saw Juliette acting very suspisiously leaving tapes for Ben. Then later we find out that Jack was in on it. So maybe again we are missing the point of what they are saying because we, the fans, are not in the loop!

Did Ben do a “Miles” on Alex after she died and if so, could it have revealed that Widmore was responsible for the rule change? +1

Maybe Alex is NOT Ben’s daughter and maybe his daughter is actually Nadia or Naomi or some other woman. Alex could be Widmore’s daughter for all we know at this point.

    Alex actually isn’t Ben’s daughter tree_sneakers.

yea when he said he stole Alex from a crazy lady… he wasn’t lying… but he did treat her as his daughter for what? 16 years or so. Therefore he possesses the same mental/emotional attachment as if he had been her real father.

What would motivate him to take care of Alex in the first place? Why not just let her live with the crazy lady? Unless you needed females to build a new colony of Others or raise a new corp of super scientist freedom fighters since you can’t just kidnap a new Juliette every month.

Is anyone else reminded of the movie Unbreakable when they analyze the Ben character?
