does anyone else think it possible for ben to have been involved in the death of nadia?i find it hard to believe that whidmore would try to attack the oceanic 6 indirectly. if he wanted to get to them he would get them directly instead of just killing off their loved ones. and it seems that the oceanic 6 are now too high profile too celebrity to be touched, so what is his motivation in going after them? at the time of the “shape of things to come” none of them have any alligence with ben or with the island anymore. if whidmore is proven to be the one who planted the plane in the ocean wouldn’t they be a HUGE embarssment for him, and if anything happened to them wouldn’t he be the number one suspect? it just doesn’t fit. and does anyone else find it funny that the first person to be attacked was the one person with a miltary history?
i think ben either killed or had nadia killed. i’m going to stick with killed right now and i think that will result in the injury to his arm. ben is at war and is seeking revenge in the worst way so is it so far fetched that he would recurit the man he knows has military experience? a man he also knows to act on his emotions. and when sayid pledges his desire to work for ben did anyone else notice the smirk on ben’s face as he walked away. it seems that ben might have set up a series of events that lead to nadia’s death and him getting the man he knows he’ll need for the war. and there isn’t a doubt in my mind that ben arrived in the middle east by accident.
i do think that the plan will back fire on ben in some degree. it seems apparent that ben will use sayid to kill penny. but sayid’s relationship with desmond will keep him from pulling the trigger. could this be the event that ben mentions while stiching sayid up? the thing that keeps sayid working for him… could sayid not pulling the trigger on penny lead to desmond’s death and his guilt from that keeps him working for ben…

this is highly possible. In fact I’d be suprised if this theory isn’t spot on.
I like it!
how would sayid know wehre penny is anymore than ben???? desmond doesnt get off the island so how would anyone know where she is ???
well sayid did hear her phone number, if (highly unlikely) he remembered the number, he might have been able to run down Penelope.
could widmore’s certainty that ben would never find Penny mean she’s on the island? i mean widmore knows ben can find anyone, how could he be certain enough to make such a bold statement? it’s the same brand of certainty that widmore shows when he says ” the hunt is on for both us, then”.
Iknowmore…- what proof do you have that Des doesn’t get off the island?
Although it is possible, I don’t think that Ben had a hand in Nadia’s death.
When he appears in Tunisia, he sees a news story about Sayid’s wife’s death. I think that that is the first that Ben learns of Nadia’s death, but sees that this can work to his advantage. He then goes to Iraq with the sole intention of getting Sayid working for him.
boybacon i thought about that too and also the fact that ben asks what year it is confuses the theory but there are somethings that just point to ben being involved… and how do we know that when ben sees the tv that he it’s him seeing that his plan worked…
iknowmore ben is getting his info from some where as we see in the economist which is why sayid is where he is. if ben wanted to get the info he would and he would inform sayid where to go… also this is just an idea of mine not saying it’s def. going to happen
I’m totally in league with your theory. That’s what I thought as soon as Ben showed up at Nadia’s funeral. But I’m going to go one step further and say that Sayid figures out Ben’s responsible for Nadia and that all of his assassinations were for Ben’s revenge. Then he kills Ben, and Ben is the one in the coffin.
I really hope he doesn’t kill Penny. But I don’t want Sayid to be an assassin either. I hope it doesn’t come down to that being the reason he works for Ben.
Chevy, Ben’s own hand did not kill Nadia, but I absolutely believe Ben had Nadia killed in order to place Sayid in a position to hate the person responsible for causing her death.
As Ben tells Sayid it is Widmore, he willing obliges to join Ben and kill him. This is precisely how Ben orchestrates and manipulates his unsuspecting ‘players’ in his game.
this seems to be very much possible, although i am not sure about the penny and desmond idea. i DO, however, believe that ben killed nadia. that was the first thing that came to my mind. he needed sayid and that was the one thing that would get to him. good job! +1 for me
I know I’m posting this well after the finale aired but it seems unlikely that Ben could’ve killed Nadia, not for moral reasons. It seems that when Ben moved the island he was dropped off in that specific time and place for a reason. He soon learned about Nadia and realized he could now manipulate Sayid, whether or not Widmore was responsible for Nadia’s death remains to be seen.
