The writers have said there is no “traditional” time traveling.

That said, we see “mind traveling” or quantum leaping, or what ever you wanna call it. I say that’s it. But here’s my theory:

even after it is all over, a couple years from now and all is explained, I predict now, I’ll put it in blood if you want, but mark my words. There will still be people out here and on other sites trying to figure out how the characters in Lost are traveling time and looping and all that.

The producers have said there is no traditional time travel only to alleviate fans’ worries that past events or flashforwards are subject to change. There will be no back to the future nonsense where someone will go back in time and alter present events.

That said, there could be more than just mind jumping, say via The Orchid station as long as the traveling does not alter these flashbacks or flashforwards.

They won’t be talking about the time travel thing in Lost. That will be all done and cleared up by the end, mark my words.

What will be debated is who was in the coffin.

(Did no one get that memo? Because of the writer’s strike and the compacting of episodes in the season they have decided to drop that particular plot thread. Permanently.)

If there is no time travel, why does Ben have to ask what year it is when he arrived in Tunisia ?

Sorry, but I think there is time travel, maybe unintentional, and something bad has happened to the timeline as a result. I would even go so far as to say that the whole Lost storyline is based around this event.

+1 tho ! (for raising an interesting issue)

Jack is in the coffin. Jack from the future!

And for the record, nothing about Back to the Future was lame.
