Is Ben traveling sideways through time? Are the events on the island unchangeable? If you leave the island can you arrive back not only at a certain place in time but at a certain point in time?
I think what we saw in the last episode of LOST was Ben traveling sideways through time. When Keamy killed Alex Ben was distraught. The rules changed… Ben moved through time and started a chain of events. A chain of events that will possibly end up leaving Sayid with the decision of murdering Desmonds girlfriends father and something else….
After all. A good con man makes you think it was your idea when it was really his idea all along.
Hey, TheMan, I don’t know why no one has commented on this yet. I haven’t been spending too much time on LT lately, but spotted yours as I was going through the theories tonight.
I may be wrong, but I took this to be two different things. Ben is distraught over Alex’s death and goes through his secret door. Then we see a flashforward of Ben in the desert and all that follows with that part of the story is 2005 and the flashforward.
Meanwhile, back on the island, Ben has unleashed Smokey on the freighties that killed Alex and he comes back out the secret door after doing whatever he has to do to unleash Smokey. He does seem pretty dusty when he returns.
Anyway, +1 for your last line. I’m sure Ben set Sayid up to come to work for him by killing Nadia himself. That sly smirk gave him away. :)
