Jacob’s List: It seems this has fallen in the cracks lately and hasn’t been commented on or spoken of on the show. My thoery also ties into who I believe is the real “savior” of the Losties. First off, I think others have crashed or found thier way to the island. When Ben talks to his Others about capturing the Losties and the list, the Others didn’t bat an eye or question what the hell he was talking about. They even had pre-devised traps and well thought of plans of luring and/or kidnapping Losties. They were way too good at doing this to be doing it for the first time.
Which leads me to the real “savior” and why: It’s Hurley. He is the “chosen” one becaue he is the most pure. He was let go because of this when the Losties were caught. Locke has seen Jacob and he has a pull with the island, but dissapointed Jacob by killing Naomi, making him unworthy in Jacob’s eyes. That’s why Hurley saw the cabin, and Christian Shepard along with Jacob. Jacob wanted his attention so he even showed him the cabin twice. Locke, or the other hand now can’t find the cabin and he and Ben need Hurley to take them to Jacob.
Not only that, but who has prior connections to the numbers? Hurley. Who was asked about the status of the survivors when he was back home? Hurley. Charlie told him the Losties need his help…that’s because Jacob will tell Hurley the secrets of the island, giving Hurley the push he needed to be unstable when he is returned home. Why do I think Jacob will tell Hurley the secrets? Because he can be replaced by a person pure of heart. That’s why he asked for Locke’s help. Hurley will defy his new role and go crazy with the knowledge of what was told to him.
I think Walt was Jacob’s first choice due to his youth and purity but Michael rescued them and left Jacob looking for other replacements. If you really look at the other Losties, and breakdown sins, Hurley is the mot innocent.
Ok…..now some random theories and questions/answers: Isn’t it weird that the only wildlife in a jungle covered island is the animal brought there? No birds or monkeys or snakes?
And I might get blasted for this one, but Desmond and his “visions” are a result of his time travel, which leads me to think a “future” Desmond is telling his “past” self what needs to happen for the good of the Losties and to get off the island. That’s why after the Hatch blew up, he was found drifting in the water. He came back with the cordinates given to him by “future” Desmond.
I even believe him and Faraday are somewhere in the near future pulling strings in hopes of something that might have gone wrong won’t again. That’s why Faraday was so emotional when he saw the wreck of the plane on tv and didn’t know why. Deep inside, he knew what was going to happen and felt powerless to stop it!
And finally…..Faraday’s in the coffin. He dies from side effects of traveling. He was loathed by the Losties for being on the “opposite” team and was abondoned by his mates for something we haven’t seen yet.
Whew…….ok. Be kind………..first theory post

I just noticed a mistake. Locke killed Naomi, making him unworthy in Jacob’s eyes, not Nadia. Sorry. Oh and first theory post, really let me know what you think.
Made a Boo Boo. Locke killed Naomi, not Nadia. Sorry I was typing and thinking too fast.

Faraday in the coffin? Hmmm…that could fit but the producers said (directly following season 3) that the person in coffin had been seen on the show before.
Thank you Billy.
Good theory on Hurley as the “pure” savior. I could see him either being the savior or ultimately the evil master who has fooled everyone (that would be a serious plot twist).
“That’s why after the Hatch blew up, he was found drifting in the water. He came back with the cordinates given to him by “future” Desmond. ” Wrong….Desmond was found by Hurley (when he was returning to the beach after being taken by the others) in the middle of the jungle and naked….. I truly believe there are no saviors nor champions of the Island.
sorry but i have to disagree. even tho hurley is the purest, i belive sawyer is the “true savior” of the island. John Locke didnt want his father on the island, but James Ford (aka: Sawyer) wanted to kill the con man who destroyed his childhood, which eventually was found to be John locke’s father (John’s dad: Locke, I am your father! Locke: NOOO!! gimme my kidney back!) (lol) and JOHN was supposed to kill him but JAMES did instead. sawyer brought john’s daddy to the island, which shows something special about him. plus, in this last episode, S04E09, the man sawyer starts to talk to gets shot IN THE CHEST, not on the side, but in the CENTER of his chest with sawyer standing directly in front of him… HOW DID THAT NOT HIT HIM?? I’ll tell you how those 3 ppl died and sawyer wasnt shot: the island is protecting soemone who needs to fulfill something…like possibly setting jacob free?? come on guys he hid behind a picnic table and didn’t get hurt! that’s LAME!!! wood vs. bullet = holey wood! and jack saving him b4 that guy…whats-his-face…his wife was shot by sun…oh well it’ll come to me l8r… shot the CRAP out of him both times!!!!
damn……yeah he was found naked that time. i got it confused when he was drifting back and said the island is a snowglobe. But i do think there is something to Hurley and Jacob. Why would Jacob have a list? Why would the Losties be told they aren’t on the list because of weakness/sins? Jacob reaching out to Hurley and Hurley’s craziness off the island just makes me think that he was told the secret by Jacob and refused to replace him.
wow, i really like this theory, Hurley is one of the purest as he saw the evil that came with his money. he has however succuumed to one sin whilst on the island, gluttony, however he learnt his lesson and gave all the food away. i have posted a new theory which refers to this one, perhaps you could read it and see what you think? your mention of Ben inspired me to write it :)
“but dissapointed Jacob by killing Naomi” ????
HOw do we know Jacob is upset about Naomi being killed?
Jacob isn’t dissapointed by Namoi’s death per se. He is dissapointed by Locke’s actions.
It’s ok, your theory inspired mine! hmm i’m confused about the coffin, originally i thought it might be Sawyer but when we see Jack he says he keeps flying hoping it’ll crash so if he’s done this regularly some time must have passed and surely they’d have buried anyone who died on the island straight away. This makes me think it could be one of the frequently visited characters who has never been to the island, for example, a parnet. Also, Sawyer has proved himself to be a lot more caring and loveable on the island so he would probably have people at his funeral, even if not many, and i certainly think Hurley would have gone. Unless of course there is a twist and Sawyer makes a lot of enemies. The only thing about Faraday being in the coffin which i am unsure of (i’m new to the whole theory of who’s in the coffin so i might be totally wrong anyway) is Jack says to Kate (i think lol) something about ‘i thought you would have been at the funeral’ which is what made me think it was Sawyer. I am unsure as to whether he would have expected Kate to go if it was Faraday. Hmmm i wanna know who’s funeral it was!! hehe
p.s- in regards to your list, i read an interesting and convincing theory about Jacob being Jack’s grandfather and it states a quote that Jack isn’t on the list. Why would this be? He is a doctor and leader of the group so surely he would be the most powerful weapon if captured?
laulou, the reason jack was on the list but wasnt really on the listwas because ben needed a spinal surgeon, aka: jack
john was really on the list
