This theory also gives hope that an alternate Citizen32 has settled down with Julie Delpy instead of submitting Lost theories at 3am while drinking Pabst out a can.

— Citizen32

My take is this: the freighter is holding position in a very dangerous spot and since it’s a large boat in open ocean it is constantly going in and out of the island’s required bearing.

While the freighter was in the island bearing, someone slit the recently injured doctor’s throat (no idea who or why). However, Desmond and Sayid, after getting off-course from a storm, land on a freighter that is in a different time course, one in which the doctor isn’t murdered.

Evidence of the freighter’s constant transfer from island reality to another due to open-ocean floating is shown with the captain’s speech about his ship experiencing extreme “cabin fever.” A woman jumps over the side, a cabin is covered in shotgun blast blood from an apparent suicide, and Minkowski (?) dies from a Desmond-like reality flip-flop.

So, why aren’t Sayid, the Captain, Keamy and everyone on the freighter losing their marbles? I don’t know – this could be a hole my theory.

Anyway, the Losties recover a body that was murdered while the freighter was in the correct bearing, but Desmond and Sayid are on a freighter with the fate of a doctor that survives. The two realities are completely different.

As far as how the two communicate, apparently the Widmore folks have developed technology that transcends the two realities. The satellite phones and even Faraday’s makeshift telegraph allow discussion. However, the two parties keep contradicting one another about what has actually happened and time disparities exist (this happened with the rocket experiment.)

If this is the case, I’m not sure what would prevent Faraday from saying, “Hey, let me talk to alternate Faraday.” Perhaps they’ve been trained not to “go there” or some scientific force prevents such a conflict.

Dude, great theory, but i think it’s not really an alternate reality, but just something with time. Still have to fill my holes though. You should too.

good thoughts, but I really don’t think we’ll see much alternate reality stuff. my thought on the doc is that the freighter folks lied to Dan.
