When Widmore says to Ben something along the lines of “everything you have boy, you have taken from me” he means it, we’re talking property rights, and ben is in widmore’s eyes an adverse possessor.
It is obvious why, Widmore wants the island. I guess the question is why Ben wants the island.

Does Ben worship the suplus? Or has Ben through mythmaking (of himself) merely fashioned himself as purely power hungry .
