Is it just me or did you notice smoke coming from the jacket, and possibly his face? If indeed this is something to do with time travel, then perhaps the jacket is made out of some special material, to protect you from burning, or losing a limb maybe?
I don’t know what you think, but the jacket is smoking. I don’t think Ben was placed there, I think Ben was warped through time, ergo The Orchid.
But he was wearing regular pants…jeans, I think. Wouldn’t his whole body need the same protection? I am thinking it isn’t smoke, but cold air/frost.
Who says they were regular pants? And no, they were not jeans.
They sure look like jeans to me. I am watching it right now, and they are just plain ol’ pants…either jeans or bluish-gray brushed twill khakis. Give me a break! I was just trying to say that if it was some sort of special time travel suit, I would think it would need to cover his head, hands, legs and feet, as well. The only thing that jacket is covering, despite the hood, is his torso. I think he is even wearing plain loafers! That’s all I was trying to say.
oops, no, not loafers. Looks like leather work boots!
not sure what you call regular pants, but Ben was wearing good old denim blue jeans.
As far as the “smoke” you saw… I took it more as cold air/frost type like when you breath out on a cold winter day. Although after just watching the scene again (about 10 times) it could also be dirt/dust raised by him falling down to the ground.
If the smoke was from him falling on the dirt, why exactly was the smoke coming “out” of the jacket instead of circling him? Also, why was it coming out of his skin?
Also, if it was from the impact of him falling on the dirt, the smoke would be circling him, not directly coming “out” of the jacket.
LOL out of his skin? what skin? he was wearing a parka and blue jeans. The part where you see the “smoke” lasted all of about 1/10th of a second. OK… I’ll rewind and watch it for an 11th time… hang on…
Ok after watching it another 10 times. I notice the only “skin” revealed was his face and hands, he WAS wearing blue jeans, so I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about. The “smoke” above his face, like I said before, I initially, and still think is more like breathing out on a cold winter day. I only offer the dust explanation as an alternative.
You’re right, the “vapor” is really just coming off the jacket, not out of his mouth or nose. Maybe on his “trip” to the desert, a thin layer of water froze on the surface of the jacket, and then when exposed to the heat of the dry desert air, it vaporized real quick…like when you open your freezer and that puff of vapor comes out.
Did you guys see the post about the orange juice? Do you think that is what he throws up? It is yellow, but could the plot of Lost hinge on orange juice?!
abstractarzt, I might have to go into detailed description for you. I want for you to watch very closely to the left of the screen on the first shot we see of Ben’s face. The moment Ben opens his eyes, look above his right eye, you will see smoke floating about, then in the second shot of his face where it zooms out a fraction, look at the direction of the smoke floating about. Obviously if you breathe “out”, the smoke/steam/whatever you want to call it will go directly up, not to the side like that, it looks as if the smoke as coming off the right side of his face, and on the coat as well when it zooms out to the third part.
…and please, if you think it’s a cold winters day out in the Sahara Desert then obviously there must be something wrong with you, because it’s October the 23rd (or 24th?), 2005 and we all know it’s spring/summer during that time of the year.
If you haven’t watched Terminator One, I suggest you go and watch it. When that man Kyle (I think his name was) comes from the future, you will see there is smoke exhaling from his skin.
So_Lost, I agree on the “vapor”. Exactly like when you open your freezer, or as I have been saying on a cold winter day.
anyway, you never see Ben throw anything up in that scene, he just coughs, kinda dry heaves, but nothing comes out. And yeah, I think OJ Killed Nicole and her boyfriend.
He’s coughs up a yellow fluid, abstractarzt.
Wow…how can three people see the same 5 seconds in such different ways? I am laughing!
Whatever Joe, it’s you’re “theory” I tried to offer my interpretation but obviously you don’t want it…
congrats, you have finally earned my -1 kudos to you.
yeah I see the brief yellow fluid, doubt it’s OJ
He went to the arctic, got info on penny “notice the smirk on Ben’s face when Charles says “you will never find her”.
Maybe he got in a scuffle with Penny’s friends.
nice responses all!
