- Flag this theory:
Ben seperates from the others because he knows there will be casualties, and what better soldiers then locke, sawyer, hurley, and all the unnamed people in lockes camp.
He even asked jack to go with lock because he would rather see lock die, because of 1000 reasons everyone has already discussed. Clarie could die in this “war” and thats what sets up the events for kate to take Aaron.
This is my first post sorry if it has been said before or is pointless

I don’t know who gave you a -1 without comment or why, but I think you have a logical idea. Ben let himself be captured by the Losties, because he knew that after the Swan imploded, Widmore would be able to locate the island. He knew Widmore would send mercenaries to capture Ben and kill everyone else on the island. Ben knew the war would come, and that anyone traveling with Ben would be the primary targets for extermination. Meanwhile his people can ride out the storm safe and sound inside the temple, and mount a defense from there.
The only caveat would be that Alex has also been with the Losties, and thus she would also become machine gun fodder. However, can we say for sure whether or not Ben planned for Alex to be with him when the s@#t hit the fan. +1
Thanks man, yeah i was pretty bummed with the negative for no reason.
