It was said by the producers that the article would be re-written.”

The article is thought to read:

”The body of John Lantham of New York was found shortly after 4 am in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue.

Ted Worden, a doorman at the Tower Lofts complex, heard loud noises coming from the victim’s loft.

Concerned for tenants’ safety, he entered the loft and found the body hanging from a beam in the living room.

According to Jaime Ortiz, a police spokesman, the incident was deemed a suicide after medical tests. Latham (sic) is survived by one teenaged son.

Memorial services will be held at the Hoffs-Drawlar Funeral Home tomorrow evening.”

From this, we would assume it is Michael. Who can’t obviously have his real name.

The physical creation of the article was from Lost’s prop department, and although the creators of Lost are aware of HDTV screencapping by fans, the fine print may or may not have been a direct product of the writing department.

For an similar example of detail from content from the film crew’s props department rather than the writers, see Ho`oulu Lāhui document.

The date of the newspaper may also be just an artifact of the prop, and not an indication of the actual “in-universe” show timeline. If so, it would be more likely to be 2005 than 2007. ”

So, we can all assume who we like to be in the coffin, but in regards to the newspaper article, we can’t assume it is telling us any information regarding it.

It’s not really “new” information but the fact that they said they would change it hasn’t been discussed much. Here is the link to Lostpedia regarding the newspaper clipping.

I’d like to know where and when the producers said that. Usually the source media is referenced. It would be a let down to me if they do change it. They would be losing my already wavering trust in them.

I agree with that. Its like the producers saying “no it’s not time travel” when clearly now, it is.
