he wants to beleieve she is still alive, and she could weel be as we did not see her die but that is for another theory
ben saw his mum in a vison when he was a young boy, but as of yet he has not seen her again or has he ………… maybe the ‘jacob’ ben is taking orders from is his mum or that what he thinks, that is why ultimately locke jacob says to locke ‘help me’ as ben does not see him for what he truely is

I’m pretty sure Ben’s mum is dead. We have only seen a few flashbacks of Ben so he could have seen his mother many times that we have not been shown as yet. As for her being Jacob, nah.
maybe, but i think that ben knows that jacob is male.
we saw a glimse of him and he was definately male, so surely ben has seen a glimpse of him too?
and why would ben refer to him as “jacob” if he believed it to be his mother? jacob is a male name, and if he thought it was his mum, would he refer to him/her as “mum” or at least her real name??
Yeh his mum is dead. We saw the flashback of him being born and how his mother died in that scene….
