Fellow Lost Fans - I started reading the boards again recently, and have started to develop an idea that stems off of the two recent “God loves you as He loved Jacob” posts.
I would like to take it in a slightly different direction. I agree that the words loves and loved have a significant meaning. However, it struck me that it could be related to the mind/time travel.
Many theories on here are about how there is one special person that Jacob/the island is looking for, a savior of some sort. Now, for the theory’s sake, let’s say Jack is also a mind traveler. I have seen a few theories about this as well, so please don’t shoot this theory down based on that. Jack could be from the future, and his mind is in his body in the past (island time). Now, since island time is the past (which we know is true, because we see the future in the flashforwards), the loved part could relate to Jacob. God loved Jacob. Yes, it’s the past (in relation to Jack’s mind), but it’s the present also.
God loves you. Since Jack’s mind/heart/soul is in the past, this would explain the present tense of the word loves. So, God loves you (Jack’s current mind in the past) as He loved Jacob (in that past time). No huge fallout with God and Jacob. God didn’t stop loving Jacob or anything like that. It was a clue to the time traveling dimension of the show.
To further this theory, I will mention the “He walks among us but is not one of us” tatoo. He walks among us - his body - but he is not one of us - because his mind/heart/soul/being is from the future. So, although I didn’t ever like the “Jack’s been there before” theories, I just wrote one myself. Jack is the hero. Jack is the one the island needs.

Sorry couldn’t get past Now, since island time is the past (which we know is true, because we see the future in the flashforwards)
A) If you’re seeing the future you are probably in the present
B) We also see flashbacks, by the same reasoning the island is in the future.
Lojazz, i think it is safe to assume that there is pre-island time, island-time, and post-island time. I am referring to the island time and post island time. Please excuse any confusions with past and future.
Sorry Jaricho now i’m really confused.
Haha forget it. Maybe this theory just wasn’t meant to be
