Lost is written by real people, in the real world, and their show exists in the real world,
— AllAboutAlpert
People only ever look to Nostradamus to predict real world events, but I started thinking…Lost is written by real people, in the real world, and their show exists in the real world, so that makes Lost just as easily predictable as 9/11. I scanned through some of my old books on his quatrains and found six passages that I thought could help us figure out the ending to one of life’s (current) great mysteries. Below I have pasted the quatrain and how it will apply to the series finale.
Century X, Quatrain 4
…At midnight the leader of the army Will save himself, suddenly vanished: Seven years later his reputation unblemished, To his return not once they will say yes….
I believe that this leader that he speaks of is none other than Jack; who will ultimately choose to abandon the other survivors and save himself by boarding the helicopter and flying off the island. He (flashforward) will return to the island after seven years to find that the survivors who, although they still respect him, will not follow him:::
Century IX, Quatrain 8
…The younger son made King will put his father to death, After the conflict over dishonest death: Inscription found, suspicion will bring remorse, When the wolf driven out lies down on the bedstead…
::: Walt, who’s supernatural abilities will grow as he gets older, will telepathically become the leader of the island and KILL his father, Michael (in the coffin) because of the dishonest deaths of Anna and that Spanish girl. Ben (the wolf), will catch wind that Walt was able to kill Michael (because the island wouldn’t let him die…but Walt CAN let him die) and surrender.
Century I, Quatrain 15
… Mars threatens us with the force of war and will cause blood to be spilt seventy times. The clergy will be both exalted and reviled moreover, by those who wish to learn nothing of them…
Once Ben surrenders, Alpert will wage war on Walt and the two factions will begin to kill one another off, seventy people will die. Locke and his followers (the clergy) will be exalted and reviled moreover by those who wish to learn nothing of them.
Century V, Quatrain 16
…The Sabaean tear no longer at its high price, Turning human flesh into ashes through death, At the isle of Pharos disturbed by the Crusaders, When at Rhodes will appear a hard phantom…
Abaddon (the Sabaen, African) will find the island and harness the smoke monster to turn flesh into ashes (the ashes around Jacob’s cabin). The Freighter people (Crusaders) will being to destroy the second island, which we will discover is the phantom island of Rhodes (one of the seven wonders of the world)..a duplication of the legendary island (like the bunnies can duplicate).
Century II, Quatrain 23
… Palace birds, chased out by a bird, Very soon after the prince has arrived: Although the enemy is repelled beyond the river, Outside seized the trick upheld by the bird…
Walt will finally arrive, in the flesh to the island to regain the thrown from Ben,on a plane and chase out anyone who can leave the island (by planes, helicopters aka birds). And even though the planes soured beyond the water, Jack, who is in a plane of his own, doesn’t get chased away by Walt and fights for the good of the island. He and Ben and are now on the same side.
Century II, Quatrain 42
…Cock, dogs and cats will be satiated with blood And from the wound of the tyrant found dead, At the bed of another legs and arms broken, He who was not afraid to die a cruel death…
Everything on the island will be replenished when Walt is found dead, lying next to Locke, whose legs and arms are once again broken because the healing powers of the island have disappeared. Locke understands his fate, as does Walt. Because like backgammon, one side wins, the other side loses, one side is black, one side is white. Jack and Ben have saved the island, but not it’s powers…that part is Lost.
Now, I know reading these quatrains isn’t an exact science, but I’m pretty sure this is how it will end. I’d love to hear more feedback from you guys!!!
I have never taken stock in any Nostradamus “predictions”. I think its a stretch to try to equate the quatrains to action world events let alone Lost. However I will give you a +1 for the effort.
Alpert, I love reading the predictions of Nostradamus, and reading about him as well. I find him fascinating. Nicely written as well.
What I have read about him and The Quatrains, is that many now feel that his prophecies can be put down to self fulfilling prophecies, as opposed to actual predictions.
There is no denying that he absolutely predicted some real life events, so it is difficult for the average lay person to weigh in on one side or another.
I would absolutely love for one of our many “resident science experts” to offer opinion.
Thanks for a very interesting read!
look at the quatrains
Wow. I mean, they are from different centuries, but the quatrain numbers…4…8…15… this is wild, +1
That is such a cool and interesting read. I have heard of Nostradamus before but have never actually read anything that he wrote. I wonder if there is any other famous writer that does not have even a short quote that most people are familiar with. So it was good to be able to say that I have now seen some of his actual words.
I think that you have done a brilliant job showing how these predictions can be seen to tie in to Lost.
Let us hope that Cock, dogs and cats will be satiated with blood
does not mean a dangerous and horrible future for Vincent
Stitch
well spotted bernard, I now want to know what is Quatrain 108. LOL
That’s crazy, I didn’t even see that when I was writing this. I’ll check to see if there is a 108 quatrain.
I can’t believe they actually work through the “numbers” that we’ve been exposed to so much…that’s awesome.
Way to do your investigating man, +1
Good Stuff. +1 for the effort.

Interesting read and well presented. I don’t think I would interpret any of those quatrains the way you did, but Nostradamus’s obscure and cryptic nuances are the very appeal of his works. Your effort to connect LOST to the his work is a unique one to my knowledge.

“There is no denying that he absolutely predicted some real life events, so it is difficult for the average lay person to weigh in on one side or another.”
Disregarding urban myths and literary legends, I don’t know of one single Nostradamus prophecy that wasn’t presumed to be true until after the event came to pass. His prophecies were metaphoric enough to apply to every generation’s major downfalls and accomplishments, but none have been shown to accurately predict, and therefore assist in the prevention of, any disaster that has befallen mankind.
That is the beauty of fortune telling. If there is any lesson to be learned from Nostradamus’s works or the astrology it was based on, it’s that “History repeats itself.”
I’ve no doubt that the LOST creators have always intended for a mix of scientific, pseudo-scientific, supernatural and paranormal explanations so as to include everyone, regardless of their beliefs. Applying Nostradamus to such explanations is no less speculative than using quantum physics to explain Desmond’s “time travel”.
I’m refusing to vote, as usual.
Billy, Allow me to clarify my words for you. Even if events predicted by Nostradumus did in fact come true, it is suggested by many from the scientific community, that they were self fulfilling prophecies by those who believed in those prophecies, thereby the very factor that made them come true, and appear to be accurate predictions.
If you have read Nostradamus’ predictions he made thousands, so one could relegate that to the laws of chance.
If that is a concept you subscribe in, than yes it is purely speculative, which was what I was suggesting. We all clear now??
BTW, Alpert I still find this in interesting read.
good read. nice number tie in
Interesting indeed. Great research and effort. A great read. Good job
A+ for a fine effort and a good read, but when you write * “Now, I know reading these quatrains isn’t an exact science,”* I have to counter now with “no, its not a science at all…its new age garbage” (I speak of the Nostradamus-related stuff, not your thoughtfull posting.”
Nostradamus is about as relevant and meaninful as a horoscope in the local paper. The quatrains were vague and generalized to allow people to read what they wanted into the passages. “A king will be killed…there will be blood…a war will fall upon them…” blah, blah blah. A thousand years ago, kings were killed all the time, there were always wars and blood was everywhere. The same goes for today…leaders die, wars happen, blood is shed. You can probably make 60-75%% of the quatrains seem like they are related to Lost…that is their nature…generally describing everyday events and letting the reader attach their own significance to it.
here is an example: 1st century, quatrain 16 *A scythe joined with a pond in Sagittarius, at its highest ascendant, Plague, famine, death from military hands, the century approaches its renewal. * Let’s see how this random passagge relates to Lost…Sagittarius>>Well the freightor people found the island in December which is the time for the sign of Sagatarius. Sun is refferenced…Death from military hands>>>there will be a war fought on the island…the century approaches it’s renewal>>>close, we are only 4 years (lost time) away from a renewed century.
This one also fits Lost nicely (1st century, 68th quatrain) O to what a dreadful and wretched torment, three innocent people will be delivered; Poison suspected, badly guarded, betrayal, Delivered up to horror by drunken executioners
If you can’t find Lost references in that one you’ve not been watching the show.
Or this one (6th century 47th quatrain) The two great ones assembled between two mountains Will abandon their secret quarrel: That’s so lost-ish it hurts.
Keep in mind, I am selecting random Qatrains and any of them can fit, some better than others, but they still fit.
Me no likey Nostradamus…me think he full of poopy :)
Interesting post. I personally see enough in Nostradamas to be curious, but not enough to be a believer.
