so on the island we have learned that there is something about children that is either important to the island or jacob or maybe even both. they have been on every list presented and seem to be taken well care of once in the company of the others. but this isn’t the only importance of children in the show. we have seen that walt has some kind of power that allows him to conjure up things when they aren’t there (ex. birds and maybe a polar bear) and also has the ability to be somewhere he’s not supposed to be (ex. showing up in random places in the island). with baby aaron we’ve seen a child sucessful born on the island (i know he wasn’t concived there) and live what seems to be a pretty healthy life on the island thus far. so it has got me thinking about the oceanic 6 and the future of the show.
how are the oceanic 6 going to get back to the island? it’s going to be the question at the end of the season that we will prob be pondering all summer so i thought i’d get a jump start on it. i believe that walt and aaron as a team are the keys for the oceanic 6’s return.
we already know that there is something incredibly special about walt. we don’t know the specifics but we know that walt can be places that you wouldn’t expect him and to develop things with his mind as well as mind read (“don’t open it john”). we have also seen that walt has been back to the island while living in new york, and that’s assuming that it was walt who stopped locke from killing himself and not smokey. so we already know that walt has the power to travel… is it possible for him to lead the O6 back to the island?
i don’t think he can do it alone. i strongly believe that walt will be a major factor in the return to the island, hell i think that walt might be the key to solving a great deal of the islands mysteries. but he’s still learning about his powers and how to handle them. i would almost put money on the idea that when the others took them they were trying to teach him how to harness his power and how to use it. as we know thoses tests were cut short so maybe there was more for him to learn.
but sometimes we forget that there is another child on the show (not so much anymore after kate’s flashforward) because of how small he is. i think it might be time to concentrate on aaron and his importance to the story. i have a tough time believing that aaron’s only purpose on being in the oceanic 6 is to pose the question what happened to claire. there has to be something more, especially if we find that claire is dead.
there is something special with aaron. we saw it with the psychic who harrassed claire. a man who was a self proclaimed fraud, had his first real vision with aaron and claire and found it imperative that the baby be raised correctly that the baby be protected. it was almost like he saw the child’s future and his importance and did everything in his power to ensure that it would happen. this included telling claire about the fake family in la getting her on the plane that would crash on an island forcing her to raise the child by herself (actually for the first time truly by herself now that charlie is dead).
i think that aaron might have some of the same powers that walt has but doesn’t know it yet because of how young he is. it’s a power that will be discovered and will be instrumental in getting back to his mother. do i think that aaron knows that kate isn’t his mother? no i don’t believe that he does, but i think he might have a feeling because of some sort of power that he might be harvesting inside.
this is just something that’s be running through my head lately. we know that there is something about aaron that is special we don’t have a clue what it is yet. as with walt we know some of the things that he can do (maybe there is more that he has learned since being home). why would it be hard to believe that together they can help bring the oceanic 6 back to the island. walt already knows the way maybe he just needs some help getting the rest of them there.
and i hate to say it but it also fits with the black and white mode… together maybe they have the power to do something of great importance.

I think you may be onto something, too. I think Aaron will have a big role to play later on…Walt, too. I don’t know how or when, and I don’t know if they will “lead” the O6 back, but they will have a key role. I feel that Aaron and Ben may be grandfather/grandson…maybe. Every time I feel sure of something, someone posts a fact that makes me change my mind. Good job, though.
Very plausible.
+1
I don’t think Malkin (Claire’s psychic) is a fraud. Malkin only called himself a fraud when Mr. Eko came to investigate the “miracle” of his daughter’s apparent resurrection from the dead. I think Malkin, being a pyschic, knew that Mr. Eko was indeed the fraud. He knew about Mr. Eko’s past and possibly his future on the island. I think he didn’t want a man like that anywhere near his family, so he told Mr. Eko he was a fraud. This means that his readings about Claire and Aaron were accurate, and it means that Aaron is indeed a special child who will go on to accomplish great things (for good or evil).
if the show ends in calendar year 2005-2006 it will be very hard to write Aaron a very good part
Lockeko, the show won’t end until calendar year 2009. That’s plenty of time to write a part for Aaron, especially with flash-forwards.
I agree with DCLostie: the psychic wasn’t a fraud, he just said that to deter Eko… in the same way he deterred Claire from giving up the baby by telling her about a fake family (which I guess really isn’t a deterrence but you know what I mean).
Chevy3232: Very interesting, very plausible. +1.
I kinda thought the psychic was a fraud. I thought they set it up that he maybe was using his daughter. Remember she followed Eko and I think said something about Yemi. I think he was just getting the info from her ahead of time .
If Malkin’s daughter knew about Eko and Yemi’s issues then she herself must have some ESP. You know what they say, “Like father, like daughter”.
