…and finally fulfills his destiny as the true hero of Lost.

Hell All,
I’ve followed the site for quite some time and have finally decided to post a theory. Here goes nothing.
I believe that this season of Lost has been quite different from the last 3 in that it has given us many more answers, than questions. For example we discover what happened to Michael, who gets off the Island(Oceanic 6), who is behind the freighter(Widmore), how desmond can time travel (or whatever you want to call it), and many many more. Keep in mind that after this season we only have 2 seasons left, with 16 episodes in each, putting us at about 2/3 of the way done with the entire show.
I belive that in the season finale, we will be introduced to yet another amazing twist of events which will boast a feast of answers to the many questions of Lost. The finale will be a Jack-centric episode which will seemingly at first, not flash-forward or backwards. Jack will pursue two seperate and strangely unrelated causes during this episode. And of course it will not be until the end of the episode that we discover that we are watching a flashforward of Jack’s, with both the current timeline, and the flashforward being on the Island.
I believe that after Jack goes through his bearded breakdown in the future of desperately trying to get back to the island, he somehow connects with either Ben or Widmore and gets back to the Island. He sobers up, gives himself a clean shave and finally accomplishes whatever it was he so desperately needed to do.
The finale will tell us that Jack gets back to the Island in the far distant future, it may even shed light on the supreme ending of the ben vs. widmore war (which may only be a battle in the dharma vs. apocolypse struggle) and finally fulfills his destiny as the true hero of Lost.

I read somewhere, and can’t remember if someon posted this, or if it was somwhere else on the Web, but that Season 4 is all about HOW the O-6 + Ben GET OFF the Island; Season 5 is HOW they get back, and Season 6 is about what happens when they are back…………..so….yeah..
it makes sense that IF the last episode is Jack centric, that it be entirely in the present when FB & FF meet??????
Is that what you’re saying?
Well that is slightly different and i think impossible. As our current timeline of S4 is nowhere near the time when Jack goes through his breakdown that we see in the Jack flashforward of S3. I’m suggesting simply that we will see a Jack flashforward of him on the island after that bearded breakdown of his, that he links up with Ben or Widmore or Penelope and gets back to the island. It will be a confusing episode, for at first, it will seem like it is solely real time, this confusion comes from the fact that the realtime events and the flashforward take place in the same location, the island.
I agree that the post-TTLG-Flash-Forward story could well return to the Island, and this could only realistically be through FFs, as the show’s present doesn’t move quickly enough to bridge the gap between the current on-island time and the S3 finale FB. I’m not sure whether that will happen this series though but the producers seem to be moving at a pretty fast pace so you never know…
I don’t think the intent is to fully bridge the gap. That’s the reason for the flashforwards, to be able to tell the story without having to fill in every little detail.
lockeko - I didn’t mean that they would try to bridge the gap (not possible!), rather that the FFs hitting the Island might not be this series
Yeah, I’m not too sure about this theory, but maybe it could happen. The only way I could see it happening is if we see a FF of Jack and Kate walking around the island and we think it is back at week two or something, and they’re looking for the caves, but it’s really after returning back to the island. It would be difficult though, because I think the die-hards would recognize this right away. We already know the jist of what has happened on the island, so TPTB would be hard pressed to make this happened. It worked fine in TTLG because we didn’t have enough overall knowledge of Jack’s past to assume it was a FF. Plus, it’s the first time they even did a FF, so it was not expected. Doing another surprise FF would not be an original season finale.
I do think that they will bridge the gaps through all of the flashbacks. By the end of this season, all of the FFs will show us what has happened between the Oceanic 6 getting rescued and Jack telling Kate in TTLG that “we have to go back.” We’ll find out what happened to Jin, more about Abaddon, why Sayid is killing for Ben, who’s in the coffin, and how the Oceanic 6 are tortured by their guilt. The present-time occurrences of the season finale will show the actual act of the Oceanic 6 getting rescued (Which I think is done by making a deal with Ben, the one who “rescues” them). The twist will likely be “HOW” Ben ends up rescuing them.
Not a bad first theory though Shasty, it made me think. +1
