There are a lot of theories about four toes and not so many about the statue itself or how it relates to Lost. For me, the Colossus of Rhodes theory is the most convincing explanation of the statue. Not only is it physically similar in appearance to the historical statue, it also directly connects to the recurring use of Greek mythology on the show.
But the Colossus of Rhodes theory is not new. I made reference to it in a recent post, but it has also appeared on Lostpedia, and I assume some other theory page before that, a long, long time ago.
I’ve been thinking the statue was built in order to “protect” the island in some fantastical way since it was standing all high and mighty on the edge of the island facing the ocean. I have no idea about the 4 toes.
in the latest podcast from abc the directors mention that the black rock and the statue may be connected, and connected in terms of an old civilisation.
LOL. Nice one.
I’m guessing you’re trying to make me look and feel bad by quoting me out of context when I tried to defend someone’s theory here. You sure got me good. I’m a real jerk providing actual evidentiary information and using it to back up a point in a logical fashion.
What’s even worse was for me to pat myself on the back for mentioning that I referenced this theory in someone else’s post here by linking to the actual Lostpedia page. To suggest that people might actual refer to the largest and most complete encyclopedia of Lost information and theories on the internet for information is absurd, isn’t it?
My sincere apologies to snakeskinboots for using his thread to answer someone’s questions. And my apologies, a second time, to sayidisabeast for attempting to defend his theory and show that it’s been around for some time.
I’m glad you were here to point out the error of my ways. Thank you again. I hope you will keep this blasphemy of my name so that you can use it in the future to point out how arrogant and “empirical” I am.
Billy_G (the real one, not the poster, who just joined today) this kind of thing has driven many good people away. Don’t let them get to you.
And for the rest of the members, remember in times like these it is crucial to know who you are talking to. Run your mouse over the posters, commenters name and it will appear in your browser at the bottom of the page as it was conceived. In this case faker used zero ipo an O.
Toodles…
real goat = superstar
fake goat = suck
This nonsense of impersonating persons on this site should cease immediately. Ben has sent me to deliver this message and has enlisted me to start making lists of the good people on this site, and the bad ones !
