When we found out Charlie was going to die around the middle of season three most people just accepted it. Then he died at the end of season three (the best death on lost ever). Just rewatching season three (well actually all of the seasons) and I wondered when Charlie was originally supposed to die, so i scaned through my lost database (my head) and tried to pick out moments when he almost died. There was the trolley on the plane that almost crushed him, but that cant be it because if he was supposed to die there then he wouldnt be able to stop it as he didnt know that he was. When plane wreckage was flying down one landed where Charlie was a few meters away from one biggish piece. But again that cant be it for similar reasons. There were various other times but all these were stopped by Desmond who knew about it so he could stop it. There is one obvious time I havent mentioned when he was hung by ‘Ethan’ (as far as we know).
If I have missed any other near death experiences for Charlie please comment and tell me about them.
I watched Charlies hanging several times with the soundtrack ‘no surprises’ by radiohead (which fits really well), and I noticed that when Jacks reviving him he stops and gives up for a few seconds. Then he starts again he doesnt give up, and if you watch the flashback at the start he gives up quite easily. This might be the original time Charlie dies. Somehow even if he doesnt know it Jack might be able to change fate. You’ll notice that Charlie doesnt almost die for another two seasons. Maybe Jack fought off Charlies death for a while. Please consider this please it wouldnt be surprising if Jack could do something extra ordinary as although we mabe we sidetracked by Locke and Desmond and all the other Jack is the main Character and maybe he can change fate.

Charlie was on death’s list for awhile. Another time when Jack intervened to save Charlie was when they (Kate, Jack, Charlie) were on their way back to the beach from the cockpit when Smokey started chasing them and Charlie fell leaving him as dinner. So Jack saved him while mysteriously disappearing for awhile as Charlie saw nuthin. Strangest scene… ever.
That’s true, 3 days ago I rewatched pilot 1 and 2 and it was like WTF! Where was Jack, why isn’t he scared, or at least nervous? As if nothing had happened, meanwhile Charlie and Kate were pretty damn scared.

In season one 1.07 “The Moth”. Charlie actually saved Jack and himself after the cave-in. They were both trapped when Charlie saw a moth, and followed it ,till he saw light,and put his hand up through the dirt. Then they got out ,and came to see Kate, and others trying to dig them out. So, Charlie as well as Jack might have died !
Jack is about changing fate!!!!!!!!!
