In the scene where Kate is going to sew up Jack, she asks if Jack has any color preference for the thread which Kate will use to sew up his wound. Jack responds with ”No, standard black.”
It just made me thinking about the big clue that’s supposed to be in the pilot episode. Now I wouldn’t say that this is the big clue, I just found it interesting, knowing that the black and white theme is pretty important on Lost. I’m probably just looking too much into details, but hey, Lost is all about (small) clues.

i doubt it means anything (that he picked black) but i see what you mean about it fitting in to the black vs white theme. i think small things like that are not intended to mean anything specifically but are free to be interpreted in whatever way fans want. :)
