Our Island could quite possibly hold the secret to eternal life

New Thoughts on a familiar theory
Throughout LOST there have been many reoccurring themes. The one I would like to talk about is the use of the colors to create additional meanings. Specifically I want to focus on the frequent appearances of the colors black and white, which reflect the dualism within characters and situations.
My theory is that each character has to come to terms with their own inner black and white or more obviously good and evil. This is why certain characters make choices for the good of the “group” and conversely personally beneficial choices.
For example Juliet: When we first got to know here it seemed as if Jack and her would never see eye to eye. However she started to lean towards the “good” side after helping Jack escape and seeming to care about sun’s future. I know the revealing of Sun’s infidelity was painful but it was for the best interest of Sun and Jin. Than she flies solo to the station with the toxic gas and lets Dan and Charlotte render the gas inert. Initially I thought this was an evil act because she was acting on her own accord and using Ben’s advice but then she let Dan and Charlotte do their thing which makes me think Juliet has transitioned to a “white” or “good” character. Which is something every character is fighting internally to accomplish (Prime suspect Michael)
No I know that was kind of weak but here is another reference that really makes me believe this theory is true. The so called “Monster”. This monster is clearly black smoke but is it more than that.
When Danielle Rousseau is asked about the monster in season one she says that it’s not a monster, it’s a security device to keep things out. Remember? The black smoke is the “Good” security device. This immediately got me thinking about the bible. After Adam and Eve eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God decides to banish them from the garden. To prevent them from eating of the tree of life, God places cherubim, which is a winged creature who supports the Throne of God, or act as guardian spirits. They appear in the Bible (the book of Ezekiel) as bearing the throne and chariot of God, and hence later conceived as a type of angels. They are also mentioned in Genesis 3:24 as guardians (or protectors) of the Garden of Eden. Bingo! They were placed at the gates of the Garden to prevent humans from re-entering and thus gaining access to the Tree of Life. This makes me think that the monster is judge and jury on what is inherently evil on the island and protecting a secret place. Do you guys remember when they were in the caves; they find two skeletons, one male and one female. The Losties jokingly dub them Adam and Eve. In one of the skeleton’s pocket there is a black stone and a white stone. This is when Locke tells Walt about backgammon (the oldest game in history). He says that backgammon is a classic battle between good and evil. The Garden of Eden is the birthplace of good and evil. In season 2, Locke is in the hatch working a crossword puzzle. The camera focuses in on two words: Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Gilgamesh is an ancient hero (Mesopotamia) who survives a great flood (likely Bible’s equivalent of Noah) and who afterwards calls on his God, Enkidu, for help finding eternal life. The ancients knew that eternal life used to reside in the Garden of Eden (it contained the tree of life). If you do some research on the Garden of Eden many believe it to be an island and quite possibly have the ability to prolong life. This provides an answer to why the natives don’t age. In the episode Lockdown, Locke sees a map on the blast door. The bunkers are strewn around the center of the island. The center is marked by a big question mark. Is this not the center of the garden which the black smoke, i.e. the cherubim, is keeping people away from? This could quite possibly be the place that will save everyone from the theorized doom that awaits our Losties. No I know I am jumping around here but stay with me. My theory is that the island is the Garden of Eden (The birthplace of the struggle between good and evil). And our Island could quite possibly hold the secret to eternal life. The place where man is tempted by good and evil, where freewill and destiny are put to the test. My theory is that each character will have to choose between good and evil at some point in the near future. And that all the people trying to keep the island to themselves know of its power to bring eternal life. Also I believe the big question mark that Locke saw on the blast door is way more important than anyone has eluded too. This is the reason only six people have left and this is the reason everyone wants to go back.
Does our island house the “Garden of Eden” and when will the final battle between good and evil take place? Is the secret to eternal life housed within this secret garden on our hidden island? What other force would prompt Witmore to invest so much time and money into keeping this island a secret and be utterly ruthless to anyone in his path. I know this is a long theory but it would also explain why Witmore knows about the black rock (is he immortal). Ok I am going to let you guys run with this. Thanks

The Garden of Eden Theory A Theory by Matt Harrison
Hi Matt!
for Rousseau to know much about the monster, then she would have to have had a face to face with it. since she’s still alive does this prove that she is judged to be like Locke (whatever that judgement was)?
I love the secret garden on the hidden island angle

? = Pearl Station. The Pearl Station turned out to be an observation statio, but for some reason no one was receiving any of the observers notes.
