Time flows by but the Swan stays where it is. Just like a Swan!

— JacksEyes

It has been theorised on numerous occaisions that the island was being held back in time by pushing the button in the Swan every 108 minutes. 108 minutes go by, the button is pressed, the island goes back 108 minutes.

Time flows by but the Swan stays where it is. Just like a Swan. Nothing appears to be happening, but below the surface there is considerable activity going on, just to keep it exactly where it is. Exactly like a Swan.

This is why this station was named The Swan!.

This is the best idea I’ve had about Lost and its so neat and tidy that I just know its right. Please tell me that nobody else has posted this idea!

good point, well thought and although i don’t think it will be explained that way i think it is probably how we are meanto to interpret it.

    Great idea!!! +1

By this logic they could have called it The Duck Station. And a better name would have been the The Alligator Station.

And I don’t understand the business with 108 minutes here. The Island is “held back in time”? I simply don’t comprehend how that works.

And even if The Swan Station were kept back in time…would not the people IN the station be held back too? And if that is the case- wouldn’t the difference have been noticed by everyone? People going in and out may not…but wouldn’t there have been consequnces of that to someone who had been stuck in there for a lengthy period of time- i.e. Desmond?

Maybe I am just not understanding your theory correctly…it is Monday after all. :-)

So is theory just explaining why the swan is named the swan? I don’t think there is any proof that pushing the button holds the island back in time… but I could be wrong…

The “held back in time” reference is to the Time Loop Theory http://timelooptheory.com/ which is a good read even if you disagree with the theory.

The whole island would have been affected, not just those in the Swan.

Wow +9 votes and I haven’t even voted for myself (yet).

As stated in previous posts and theories, all the Dharma station names have a link to the Greek god Apollo. This talk was especially big at the end of Season 2 because many people think the four-toed statue is of Greek origin (i.e. the Colussus of Rhodes).

this theory has been said many times before, but the swan analogy is all yours. Good job
