So there has been a lot of speculation about the possible relation between Lost and Cloverfield. I’m sure most of you have seen the Dharma Initiative Logo that can be seen at the start of the movie…but in case you haven’t here is a link
(Dharma logo in bottom right) http://www.irintech.com/x1/images/jean/cloverfield_dharma.jpg
Beth McIntyre (a main character in Cloverfield) shares the same last name with Hugh. Hugh McIntyre was the Communications Director at the Hanso Foundation. The Hanso Foundation as we all know is an organization, based in Copenhagen in Denmark, who aim at finding ways to preserve human life and promote well-being. The Hanso Foundation also financed the Dharma Initiative.
At the very beginning of Lost, when the ‘Monster’ is tearing down the trees it emits a sound very simlar to the one of the Cloverfield Monster. The next day on the beach some of the Losties are talking about this and you can hear Rose saying she found that sound familiar, then when asked where she was from she replied “The Bronx”. This (obviously) is where Cloverfield takes place.
Could all this also be an explanation to the suspected city skyline reflected in the water in the new Season 4 Promo. Take a look.

Lastly, an image of the Statue of Liberty head from Cloverfield can be seen in the new Lost ARG.
So is all of this enough to prove there is a relationship between Lost and Cloverfield? All I can say is…JJ.Abrams, you never cease to amaze me!

I don’t really think that the storylines are going to come together. I wouldn’t doubt that JJ is putting these things up there to intentionally mislead people.
It has been said that there is more of a backstory to the Cloverfield monster, but I’m guessing that will all be explained in another Cloverfield related movie.
Didn’t the events of Cloverfield happen on 1/18/08? There might be a chance that the island gets mad and attacks, or that the monster in Cloverfield is Cerberus, our smoke monster, and it all happens after our Oceanic 6 try to get back to the island. I really doubt it though.
As for Rose saying that the monster reminded her of the Bronx, it’s because the sound of the smoke monster (the ticking, not the growling) was sampled from a cab ticket printer in the Bronx.
If the story of Lost ended up working out to a Godzilla movie, I would be very disappointed. I’ll give you a +1 for a good presentation (even though 2 of the links didn’t work, not your fault).
yeah sorry, fixed the link problems!!!
Links worked for me!! :)
I still havent seen Cloverfield, though I want to. So I cant comment on that. What I can say is that I agree that it would be a disappointment if the movie and show were related. They could prob get away with a few little snippets here and there but nothing too major. In my opinion.
While you have expanded slightly on previous suggested theories, I can’t help to feel a sense of deja vu.
There is no shortage LOST mythology creeping into other television shows and films. Some of it’s just mention of the tv series as a tv series, while other things seem to recognize the mythology as part of their own. Most have already been referenced on Lostpedia:
http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Outside_referencestoLost
Some of the mythological references are interesting. They seem to imply that the events of LOST exist in their universe or that fictional elements of LOST are true in their universe.
http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Alias has so many “coincedences” they are too numerous to list.
Events in Chuck suggested that “Oceanic Flight 815 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile…”
Heroes showed the Gannon Car Rentals brochure that had appeared in LOST earlier
In Mission Impossible 3 the main character enters “Paik Heavy Industries” and the Hanso Foundation is thanked in the credits.
Srubs featured a vending machine that contained Apollo Bars.
So, it appears that LOST is popular among television writers also. But I doubt we’re going to see Kate get in an accident and show up at the hospital on Scrubs. Maybe though, since it appears ABC is scooping the show up from NBC’s cancelled list.
Hi +1 don’t think anyone has made the link to the water reflection before! I for one believe the two are very much connected, it’s easy to believe all the connections with lost are just marketing/irrelevant…………but it’s much more difficult/fun to speculate what it could mean and try to tie it together!
