though this isnt a theory, i have an idea and i would like to know if anyone can make a theory from it.
i was looking at a page on LOST wikia, about room 23, the room where Karl was found being ‘brainwashed’, it has a series of pictures form what the screen in the room showed, one of them is a picture of some stairs with the words ‘God loves you as he loved Jacob’. this, i think, is a direct quote pulled from the bible though i am not sure.
i was wondering is anyone has any idea if this has any connection with the Jacob from the island.
please coment any ideas. thanks.
the address with the images is: http://lost.wikia.com/wiki/Room_23

what a find there haven’t been any theories on this site about room 23. good job. (that was all sarcasm by the way)
Well, while I am not sure it is a direct quote from the bible, I do know that Benjamin was the name of Jacob’s son. And in the bible it is suggested (I think) that God loved Jacob but hated his brother, Esau. Maybe that is what it refers to. I always thought it was interesting that Jacob’s son was named Benjamin in the bible. But there are tons of biblical references scattered throughout Lost. As well as literary, music references, etc.
Jacob had children with two different wives. He favored his wife Rachel and their sons more than his wife Leah and their children. These sons were Joseph and Benjamin. Rachel died while giving birth to Benjamin just like Emily Linus died giving birth to Ben Linus. I believe that Ben eventually went on to die without ever committing a sin.
One other thing is that God told Jacob that all of his decedents would be enslaved for 400 years before being freed.
i posted something similar in the orchid orientation video if i’m not mistaken it subliminaly plays that message i would agree with you, because they have played that message many times. +1
and segwaypirate maybe the 400 years of enslavement is why some of the others have seem not to aged (richard) has been the same age for a while.
I was thinking more along the lines that 400 years of enslavement might be why everyone is trapped on the island.
