Does anybody think there is any signifcance to Jack listening to the Nirvana song “Scentless Apprentice”. In the last episode of season 3 on his way to the funeral of the mysteious coffin person? The lyrics are easy to find, but I really cnat make a connection, but me being an extreme Nirvana fan i just cant seem to let this one go

Nice catch. Nirvana’s music has some pretty dark themes, so does the show. You might be on to something. Also, it has bothered me that a successful docotr would be driving a beat up jeep.+1
OKAY I am posting the lyrics below but please please please dont be upset with me if anyone is offended by one of the words in there that could be considered offensive. This is my disclaimer so I dont get shat upon. Okay, please dont be offended by the word shat, either. Hehe. Here goes:
Scentless Apprentice
Like most babies smell like butter His smell smelled like no other He was born scentless and senseless He was born a scentless apprentice
Go away - get away, get away
Every wet nurse refused to feed him Electrolytes smell like semen I promise not to sell your perfume secrets There are countless formulas for pressing flowers
Go away - get away, get away
I lie in the soil and fertilize mushrooms Leaking out gas fumes are made into perfume You can’t fire me because i quit Throw me in the fire and and i won’t throw a fit
Go away - get away, get away Get away, get away, get away Go away
GREAT SONG!! +1 for applying music theory to this show. I love it!!
great job
The only reason i even bring up the song is that I watch the enhanced episodes on abc.com and lets there is some random song playing in the background the little caption a t the bottom will give the reason why it was put in the show or why it is being heard by the specific people in the scene, so i was thinking could the same thing go for “Scentless Apprentice”?
The only significance is Jack has crappy taste in music.
LOL- Seriously, not a Nirvana fan, though my daughter is. With this show, I guess anything is possible, but these lyrics make no sense to me at all.
HAHA!! Nirvana lyrics are usually so dark that they dont really make a whole lot of sense to anybody but Kurt himself (I miss him dearly) but that was kinda the appeal to him. Nirvana certainly was revolutionary, even you were never into them. I personally was, but only because I was a lost teenage girl at the time going through an identity crisis, not popular in school, dark, the loner type, etc. Kinda the 90’s version of the crappy emo we have now. Hehe.
I’m not a nirvana fan, but i am guessing that it is heavy metal rock music right? anyway if so i think the only significance of the music is to highlight the mood that he is in - depressed, suicidal etc
p.s the title says “first episode of season 3” but i mean to say last episode of season 3. lol
I don’t know if this is fact or not, but I seem to recall that the reason the Nirvana song was playing was because, in flashforward time, it would have been a tenth anniversary of the song (or album).
As stated, I don’t know if that’s fact or not. I just seem to recall reading it on Lostpedia.
“Scentless Apprentice”: Jack is listening to this Nirvana song on the way to the funeral home. Nirvana singer/songwriter Kurt Cobain died on April 5th, the date Jack’s newspaper was published. (Music)
pulled that from Lostpedia
thanks lateralus, tool’s pretty cool to, i saw them in june.
