I couldn’t work out why only Desmond needed a constant and Said dodn’t when they escaped the island. A lot of people think its because Desmond turned the key and therefore was exposed to high levels of radiation.
I think differently though.
I believe that the reason that Sayid doesn’t need a constant is because he is aware of all the time travel already.
In a similar way to how Ben and a number of the others can leave the island, i think Sayid can also do this.
I believe that Sayids Flash forward was in fact a Flash Back and that he has been working for Ben for a number of years.
Ben went back in time and told him that he would survive the plane crash and that he would leave as a member of the oceanic 6.
He needed Sayid to kill different targets who were a threat to the island and its exposure and knowing that he survived the plane crash was able to travel back in time, tell Sayid and thus begin Sayids mission,
Sayid cant die as it is against fate so his hired assassin would be alomost invincible.
Thoughts please.
I doubt it. He refers to himself many times throughout the flashforward as a member of the Oceanic 6. And even Elsa makes some comments about the plane crash. This would not be the case if it were a flashback.
no he doesn’t seem to be affected like Des. He doesn’t seem to need a constant.
O6 wouldn’t have any meaning prior to the crash. It would be silly for him to identify himself as such.
I don’t think Sayid needs a constant.
The only person he identified himself to he killed.
Is it possible that Ben is Sayid’s constant? Why wouldn’t Sayid need a constant?
Cls, I think this theory is unsupported and has many holes. You say the only person he identified himself to he killed. But Elsa did say she recognized from somewhere (when she was acting), and Sayid tells her - “I’ll tell you exactly where you know me from.” This seems like an odd thing to say if he wasn’t famous, which he wasn’t before the crash.
Daniel says that the constant is necessary if you have been exposed to high levels of electromagnetism and that is why Des experienced it and Sayid did not.
I don’t believe Sayid needs a constant because he’s not ime travelling like Desmond nor was he exposed to any or a s much electro magnatism cause he was on the other side of the island.
The inevitability of Desmond becoming a time traveller have shaped the events that have taken him to the island and events that occured during the constant has made desmond fully aware of this.
L believe, in fact, that Widmore was purposely negative to Desmond to set him upon his task, which makes me think he may not be as much of a bad guy as we have been led to believe.
I think tinywanker is correct, prior to the crash, identifying himself as a member of the oceanic 6 would have no meaning. That was not a flashback.
Sayid was not exposed to electomagnetism or radiation like Desmond was, therefor he’s not experiencing displaced time as Desmond is and does not need a constant.
Also one needs to recall the meeting of Henry Gale and Sayid and there chats in the hatch. They were alone together and they so did not look like they knew each other
“Does Sayid need a constant?”… Nope.
Sayid needed a Constant.
His flashforward was a flashback.
Those were the two points raised here. I refute both of them.
Sayid didn’t need a Constant. He didn’t travel in time. And his flashforward was a flashforward. And that’s that.
AC is right
