forgive me if this may have been posted before but here it goes…
I was just reading munchkins last post and it got me thinking when the runway part was mentioned, what if they WERE expecting flight 815 but not so soon, hence the runway they were building and also why they have so much information on jack & co. This would indicate that time moves slower on the island, maybe the ‘outside’ world is a year or so ahead,a month on the island equals a year in the outside perhaps?! Naomi’s phone seemed to be very advanced which could indicate that she could be from years ahead of when flight 815 crashed,i don’t recall her mentioning what year it was. Also this whole theory could be behind the scene where jack is shown the game in which the red sox win ,maybe this is a game played in the following season after the crash? Just an idea!!!
Very Interesting! I sorta thought the same thing after reading the little munchkin’s last post! :) Regarding the runway and like you said the information that they have on Jack…and then there’s the whole weird deal with Cindy the flight attendant…. good post M4! :)
BTW, Time on the island is in fact different from the outside world….not sure how, but the writers’ have said that time is different on the island!
I think that is a good theory. It also makes me think of how much older Walt looked when he appeared to Locke. …
I’m eager to see how time works differently on the island, m. I like your theory. Naomi being from the future, how does that jive with Jack’s flash forward? I feel we’ll see more flash forwards having to do with Naomi, and hopefully some on-island flash-forwards.
M4: Definitely some good thoughts here! I am not certain if what you suggest is correct, however their definitely is some time variation. Nice post! +1
+1 Probably a different time and a different dimension.
Hmm…why then would they still be building the airstrip if they know that the plane already crashed?
touche Hex still I like this theory
m4: I like this theory. Very interesting and time does move differently on the island per the writers. +1
Hex: Maybe they’re waiting for another plane?
I’m not knocking your theory m4, but I do want to play devil’s advocate here.
I agree with Hex and would add that some “scientists” (even before they got 2 slave laborers) clearing rocks on Hydra Island doesn’t equal “building” an airstrip.
Maybe a place for a helicopter to land or a small prop plane could be managed, but a jumbo jet? Are you kidding me?
Even if there was enough room (on Hydra), there is no way the others have the manpower, materials, and time involved needed to build a runway of the size and strength support a jet the size of flight 815.
Either you did a 180 billinbo or you were being sarcastic. You usually pontificate when it comes to theories involving time. :)
Just a note on the Red Sox, while the writers could have just said the Sox won the series, the Red Sox actually won the series in 2004. I think the producers are using that in the show. In show time, they’re only a couple of months out from the Sox victory. I think using events from what we know as actual helps dispel the idea of alternate realities.
Very intriguing idea m4—and I agree with PG about Cindy. You might want to see PG’s list of questions about Cindy in the comment line here: http://lost-theories.com/theories/2007/sep/15/group-1-abandoned-marriages-an/
Good point lockeko.
