Sayid’s so sketch I tried to sell him my ipod for a zip

— stepitupjack

I hate to say this, because Sayid has always been the man that we all turn to, to see though everyone’s bs, but I am sad to say I think things are going to change.

It has been mentioned in several episodes how sketchy it is that Sayid has been digging that hole, and like, that IS sketchy. Someone else mentioned how nice of a shovel it is. Also sketch Now I don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but I feel someone must have, because to me this is the most glaring signs were in the episode “Greatest Hits”. I had several moments where Sayid was being so sketch I was about to try and sell my ipod to him for a zip if you know what I mean. Juliete brings up the looking glass hatch and not only does Sayid know about it, he also freaking has a map of it. where did sayid get this map? The hatch blew up, no maps there. Danielle doesn’t know nearly that much about the island. She’s Steven Tyler mixed with Rambo. And hadn’t even seen the others. Either he found it. Which seems highly unlikely. OR and believe me I hate to say this. He could be working for the others. It’s the only place I could imagine him getting that map, and we never saw what happened to Sayid while he was captured with the others. We never even saw him knocked out by the gas in the episode “left behind”, and we saw how he betrayed all of hsis friends for Nadia. (and remember they showed her in the las episode, maybe just another lost connection or maybe to remind us that she exists because she is going to matter soon) Don’t think for a second Sayid wouldn’t betray his island buddies to get back to Nadia. No freaking question there. Therefore showing Nadia when Sayid is acting Sketch is sketch in itself. Juliete says that Ben has never let anyone go there. So what. Ben’s clearly extremely smart. He got locke to blow up the submarine by telling him not to.

Also wouldn’t make a great season finalie to take the one person on that island I trust is doing the right thing to screw them all over? And then going LOST I mean I would be losing my mind til February when the next season airs.

Yes!! I noticed that Sayid’s character is taking on a different angle. There have been so many questions in the past couple of episodes. What was he digging when Hurley showed up? How in the hell did he get that map? So..so many questions. In the last episode, his opposition to Jack seemed a bit extreme. I hope Jack really steps up as an extremely strong leader and puts Sayid in his place. Sayid was one of my favorites in the beginning, but he is starting to seem really sneaky.

Agreed Marvin & stepitup… I think we all need to take a closer look at Sayid….I believe there is a reason why the writers have not revealed much about him or his past..

Sayid got the map from the Flame Station.

Someone mentioned how odd it was that Sayid dismissed Jack’s question about the looking glass, “If it’s flooded, then how does it still work?” Sayid said the question was irrelevant, but it wasn’t. If it was determined that the station couldn’t possibly work if it was flooded, then it could have been concluded that the flooding of the station was just another one of Ben’s lies. If they’d have decided it was possible the station wasn’t flooded, then perhaps they would have come up with a plan of getting into the station that took into account that possibility.

Perhaps it means nothing. But… perhaps it means something. Welcome to LOST! :-)

Yes Prof. I thought what Jack said was very relevant, however, Sayid immediately brushed it off. Something sneaky is going on with Sayid!!

Okay, I love Sayid, so perhaps I am a little biased here, but:

Wasn’t he digging the holes as he helped prepare the dynamite traps for the Others?

As Prof points out, Sayid got the map from the Flame Station. He probably knows about a lot of stuff from what he gathered from the FS. The fact that Sayid seems to know a lot of stuff is pretty consistent with his character, I don’t think he is holding out for any nefarious reason, just trying to figure out the smartest thing to do at the right time.

As for his dismissal about the FS being flooded, perhaps Sayid was just doubting what Juliet said Ben told him (he still doesn’t trust Juliet and certainly doesn’t trust Ben). I thought it was more suspicious that Jack seemed to want to prevent them from going to the LG.

All of this being said, I think Sayid is just really focused on using the radio they have to call for help. I think this focus is underlined when he says to Jack - are you more concerned about killing the Others or getting off of this island?

*correction to my comment above: I meant the LG being flooded, not the FS. Oops. Need coffee!

Sorry lostmusings.. but your boy is definetly suspect, to say the least….. and he was not digging for holes for the dynamite when Hurley showed up….Hurley came to Sayid to tell him about the fact that they found Naomi.. This was before all the Losties knew about the dynamite or the fact that the other’s were coming for the pregnant women… Also: I mentioned this in the comment section on another post.. Don’t you find it odd that we really don’t know much about Sayid.. with all the other Losties.. we have been given flashbacks about their lives prior to arriving to the island… the only inside info we have been given about Syid is the fact that he worked w/ the Iraqi National Guard, that he is in love w/ Nadia and helped her escape..that he was approached by the CIA for his help w/ stolen weapons, that he had a face to face encounter w/ a one of his previous torture victims, and the fact that he has past experiences w/ Kelvin, a pervious Dharma member….. other than this we know nothing… The show has not even revealed to us who Sayid’s father is.. and as you know.. the Losties and their relationships to thier fathers, is a definite theme on the show….Where is Sayid’s father? and who exactly is he?….

sayid’s no turn coat, he just knows what must be done now that the chipsd are in and he’s getting ready, as far as the map goes yeah… that kind came outta nowhere, and no one questined it was the stranger part. jack is the one acting suspicious lately but since others have mentioned this to him it’s too obvious he’ll turn, more than likely juliet is double-double crossing them

    Heh….

    Folks, I suspsect everybody.

To paraphrase Danielle, “Have you been watching the same island that I’ve been watching?” :-D

Sorry, I didn’t recall the digging from before. Probably would not have struck me as weird because Sayid’s always puttering around.

I guess my issue is I just don’t see Sayid’s motivation for betraying the Losties. He wants off of the island and he seems genuinely loyal to the Losties and always suspicious of the Others.

His character development also seems to be going the route of rejecting the violence that was in his past (which, I should note, seemed to be due to his job(s) mainly, not an intrinsic part of his nature).

As for his father, maybe we’ll learn more down the road, but I think his dad was a military man and perhaps largely absent as Sayid grew up.

The whole Kelvin connection is weird but so are a lot of the other coincidences (Nadia popping up all over the place as just one example).

About Nadia, one thing that does bother me is how quickly Sayid got together with Shannon but that could be chalked up to being in such a strange situation with emotions running wild. Doesn’t necessarily undermine Sayid’s feelings for Nadia I suppose.

Perhaps I’ll be proven wrong, but I am still holding out for Sayid - as I have said before - I think he is good people!

I don’t know why I think that statement is funny, but I do!

Oh Sayid, he loves to putter :) putter putter putter

The “metaphorical box” might have brought Nadia to the island…or Ben may have her squirreled away as a prisoner until she is needed to “exploit” Sayid for Ben’s wishes–that is what Ben does according to his own words, he finds out what is important to people and he exploits that to get what he wants. As for backstory, Sayid’s superior officer said that his father was a war hero, or something to that effect and that he was ruining his family’s honor by betraying his country. Perhaps when he was released by Inman he found that his family had disowned him and all that he had left was to track down Nadia.

Lost never shows anything without a reason. I don’t this is an issue of do we like Sayid. We all love Sayid. But anyone can be corupted. I would love to believe that, it won’t happen to Sayid. I would love to believe that is above all that. But they showed Nadia last episode and I really believe that it is just to remind us she is there. It is to remind us what Sayid did. Sayid is NOT above coruption. He was manipulated to tourture people and he turned his friends in for that girl. I want to believe that Sayid is going to step it up this season and make us all so happy that he the man, but I am weary

I thouhght that syid got the map from Danielle’s underground hut before he escaped and didn’t know what it was for, not the flame station. Oh and I thought Danielle was taking the dynamite to make a new home underground.

People keep saying that Sayid turned in his friends for Nadia. However, these people are clearly ignoring the facts of the situation in order to further their own points. First of all, the men Sayid “betrayed” were terrorists. Second of all, he only knew one of the terrorists, who he attempted to allow to escape. True, he did these things because the CIA was going to, and eventually did, give him information on Nadia’s whereabouts, but I don’t see how bringing down a terrorist cell attempting to detonate 300 pounds of C4 can be seen as a bad thing.

I guess I’m just weird or crazy or something.

As the esteemed ProfOzone has previously stated Sayid definitely got the map from the secret underground hatch in the Flame Station. That was the same place he got the schematics for the electricity for the Barracks. Which is how he, Kate, Locke, and Rousseau found the Barracks.
