“The Others” are not the original inhabitants of the island.

Earth’s Origins
The island is as old as the planet itself. It’s been around, hidden from view, for ages.
Jacob and his people, whether killed or trapped, just like him, are as old as the island. “The Others” are not the original inhabitants of the island. Despite Richard’s apparent ability to age slowly or not at all, I think there is a better explanation. Richard and quite possibly more of the others are using the island to keep themselves young.
In “the man behind the curtain” before reaching Jacob’s abode, Locke and Ben come across a dark powder, which Locke examines. This powder is meant to keep Jacob within a permitted area. When Locke and Ben enter Jacob’s shed, you can see gigantic jars of what appears to be blood. Then in Jacob’s chair, presumably beneath him, you can spot a circular arrangement of leaves. The powder, blood and leaves all work for the purpose of keeping Jacob confined while “the others” take advantage of the island’s power.
“The Others” are more than likely the first group to have successfully made it to the island… nothing but mere mortals. Over time they came to discover many of the island’s secrets, perhaps by killing the original inhabitants just like they killed the dharma initiative. Maybe Jacob NEEDS to be kept alive to maintain a balance on the island?
Or maybe “the others” befriended the island’s original inhabitants, learned of their secrets like how to wield the island’s healing power and so forth, then killed them in a power hungry rage.
I’m also guessing “the losties” were all MEANT to be on the island. Their paths intertwined to create the inevitable future for the island. . .
The emancipation of Jacob.
The destruction of “the others.”
Also:
Naomi’s mention of flight 815 being discovered is nothing more than an elaborate red herring, designed to make us believe one of the more simple minded plot possibilities. Something stupid like, they’re all dead and in limbo.
The plane’s discovery was staged by “the others”

this is an awesome theory, i think you got it man
makes sence i do agree that jacob is confined to that perticular place as i mentioned in my thory
I like your theory. Very solid points.
But I’m somewhat hesitant in thinking that the others are just another group that found the island.
Yes I agree that Jacob is being held captive. I theorized that myself, but I think that it’s Ben that is the captor. The rest of the others don’t know the truth.
I do enjoy emancipation, though!!! Viva le Revolution!!
Although I have a different interpretation of what is going on, on the island, I really enjoyed your theory about Jacob!
I thought the jars were just for effect. After all, Jacob had the ability to throw them and break them, so how could they confine him? However, the powder and levees definitely serve a greater purpose.
Great post Andre….I really like your theory…you may be on to something here..
Thanks for the comments, everyone.
Nice one Andre,
I think the idea of Jacob being trapped is well good. He is an enigma at this point but i dont think he has much power.
I think the ‘Natives’ that killed all the Dharma guys are gonna be really important. The way they dont age is key. We just need to find out how long theyve been there!
I don’t find anything revealing in this theory… All he is doing is stating things we all know… the ring of powder to keep Jakob trapped, Naomi being a liar… Losties meant to be on the island… everyone knew this already… Sorry but it sounds more like a recap of information we already knew.
