I think Sawyer is the much-talked about “gay character.” Why do I think that?
Because it’s the only logical explanation for him not knowing who the hell Nikki is. :)

The island itself is the gay character. It has always been secretly excited by other islands of the same sex.
The producers said that a gay lostie would be revealed in Expose. In that episode, Shannon tells Boone to stop flirting with men.That aside, I’ve been rewatching season 1 this weekend, it’s amazing how many things happened that I’ve forgot. Boone and Locke are going out everyday on the pretense of hunting boar or looking for Clair (They are actually finding the hatch and digging it up) Shannon asks Boone, What is Locke your new boyfriend now? Boone is the gay character. Not that it really matters!
But….didnt we see Shannon and Boone make out? and that of course lead to other things….so he could only be bisexual right?

I find it interesting that the love of Kate’s childhood is also named Tom.

For the record, this was compeltely a joke. Seems like some people didn’t get it, but my point was, “Nikki is freaking hot, and if you can’t see that, it must mean you don’t like women!”
Perhaps not a super-tasteful joke, but definitely a joke and not intended as any kind of slight aganist homosexual people.

Gosh, I posted a thread titled “Is Faraday Gay?” and it got trolled!
Go figure.
Anyway, I think it’s a highly legitmate type of question, because in any random human population as much as 10% will be homosexual, male or female.
I also didn’t think Boone was gay, because of his sexual relationship with Shannon, no physical contact with other men. He was teased a lot by Shannon, and I think another character called him “pretty boy”, which he was, but that doesn’t mean someone is gay or bi. He couldn’t help it if he was naturally, well, cute.
I thought Ben was gay… and Locke too, as well. Neither a very positive gay role model, though. Sawyer? Ha. He’s a male skank, and probably has had bj’s from gay men, but as he said in that little game with Kate, “I never”, he claims he’s never kissed a man. Interestingly, Kate didn’t respond with “I never kissed a woman” because I’m pretty sure she has. Or maybe I’d just like to watch ;-)
